I want my 2 hours back. I can over look the weak plot, script and acting but please don't make me scream at the TV screen about how you're being stupid. You don't go to a gun fight with a knife. Other than the bombs from the fighters I think the heaviest weapon I saw was a truck mounted 50 cal. We spend billions on making war and this is the best they can come up with having 30 years to prepare. Give me a little ole chain gun, buddy.
Pretty impressive that a species whose matriarch was taken down by Pratt and his elderly Dad with a rifle and hand to hand combat, was able to overwhelm 8 billion people including hundreds of well armed militaries in the original timeline.
It's absolutely incredible to me that Amazon paid $200 million for this.

holy snikes. I cannot imagine that's going to be a good investment. For $200 million, you would think you would get a movie with staying power. Nobody is going to sign up for Prime or keep prime because of the ability to watch movies like that.
No sane person would ever take that dare. Roadhouse is the most complete movie ever made. Although it was superbly acted the most amazing part of that movie was how they were able to insert a monster truck into the plot and make it work. I think everyone will agree that Roadhouse is the Mona Lisa of movies. It is a masterpiece that will never be topped.

True, but he can be an action star too, it just needs to be something with levity. A role like this he is completely interchangeable with probably a dozen other stars, and if it weren't for his name recognition, would probably be interchangeable with hundreds of other actors. I kept thinking he was trying (or his director was trying) to copy Tom Cruise, and he just came off as a low rent Tom Cruise, who despite being 5'4", is actually pretty good in these roles.
On a related note, I just watched Tenet without knowing anything about the movie. I assumed full on action/spy movie based on the picture as thats all I had to go off of.
2.5 hours later, I think I liked the movie but wasnt sure. Still unsure. Itd be great if I were smart enough to even fully understand what the hell I watched. Holy hell it was a mind bender.
For context, ends up it too is a time jumping movie. All of it was really interesting, but damn I struggled to follow both the present and future happening at the same time on the screen.

You mean to tell me that one man and a squad of like ten goons could completely terrorize a small Missouri town and the only way they can be saved is because a pissed off bouncer decides to take them out?
If that son of a ***** had trashed my car lot with a monster truck, I'd have called up 4 or 5 of my cousins, told them to bring friends and extra ammo, and handled that mother17er.
Other than that? Excellent film. Kelly Lynch was a goddess.
What I am wondering is how in the Blue Hell this thread could have lasted this long without Yvonne Strahovski being mentioned? And someone for the love of God, please attach a pic of her. If you say she isn't hot in this movie (haven't seen it but I imagine she is a smoke show like she was in Chuck), then attach one from when she was in the TV show "Chuck".
The time machine used had issues. They could not select dates. Each day was tied to the same day in the future. So when each day in the present change that day changed in the future. Like attaching two balls together by one string When you throw one the other follows. The monsters only come out every 7 days. So they sent new people every 7 days and you only served 7 days. So if you survived the 7 days you went back when the next group came. They had a draft for who went. Once you were drafted they use the historical records from the future to see when you died. If you died before the monsters arrived you were sent to keep the paradox from happening. The people who came back from the future to ask for the help were really young meaning that they were not born yet at the date they came back. They did put some thought into the movie.
Why would current time agree to this though? They are sacrificing current time and all that will happen to those currently living, for an alternate future is another timeline.
Yes the aliens will attach in the future of the present timeline if nothing changes, but all that has to happen is something changes and over 30 years a lot more will change.
Using people who will die before the war is a neat plot twist, but even that will change the current timeline since someone dying in an alternate timeline changes **** when compared to that same person living for another 15 years and dying on earth in a multiple car accident. If that person isnt alive in the current timeline to have all the interactions and then die with others involved in an accident, the changes are countless.
Its just a bad story. One timeline sacrificing untold numbers for another timeline's future. Its not like the timelines will merge at some point to where the present will benefit from its sacrifice for the future.
I agree no matter who they sent they were changing the time line for someone. Prat character died 10 year ahead in the future. So what timeline changed if he had died before that 10 years past. It dang sure wasn't the best movie but I took it for what it was.
Last I saw it, a quarter century ago, I dont remember being annoyed at the obvious plot holes when it came to time travel. So I was probably liked it more.
It was a totally different plot from The Tomorrow War.
