And my grill just won't seem to fire up without cold beer and Pandora's Outlaw Country Station.

Oh, "bands that others might not have heard of" (reading comprehension)...so I guess just the first entry. Though I have seen some love for them expressed around here before.

Lukas Nelson, who is everything Shooter Jennings wishes he was...

Is one of my current favorites, he can sing like his dad or shred an electric guitar. Gary Clark Jr. Is a legit blues guy, Keller Williams, Assembly of Dust, Blind Pilot are all good.

I submit The Dead Milkmen

It's almost summer and not much else going on. Let's hear some of your favorite bands others might not have heard of

Not because I like them but because it seems all message board music threads turn into a competition to name obscure bands. My theory is that nobody actually listens to half of these listed. May just be me...

I'm not a music snob and listen to bands most people have never heard of. That being said all I've listened to for the past couple months is motley crue. And the occasional jamey johnson.

Elliott Smith, The Pixies, Tears for Fears, Sisters of Mercy, Genesis, Haim, Public Enemy, Regina Spektor, Tegan and Sara, The Birds of Satan, Black Foot, The Band, David Grey, Phillip Glass, Echo and the Bunnymen, Squirrel Nut Zipper, The Stooges, Thin Lizzy, Ghetto Boys, Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Flogging Molly, Digital Underground, Modest Mouse, NOFX, Bad Religion. Solid list. I've always thought echo and the bunnymen were a better band than joy division. I spent a good part of my high school life in my room listening to Elliott Smith and Smiths/Morrissey records

I don't know if I'm a music snob but I can tell you this. There's someone on this board with an avatar of a Phil Spector produced Leonard Cohen record. I love both of those guys but that's about as snobby as it gets. (In a good way)

I've seen Leonard Cohen and he writes some legit soul crushing music.

Hahah they were awesome, sucks they broke up. Canadian band I believe. FUSE use to rock their stuff quite often. Those guys were bad *** musicians.

Actually they're back together, mostly. Different drummer and bassist, but that band was all Ian Thornley and Brian Doherty anyway. They released an album a couple years ago and have another one coming out in June.
