I had valid in-transits in my window and the cop pulled me over. It was the middle of the day. I had no idea why I was stopped and they came up and asked if I had proof of purchase. It was bizarre. But now @Iroh2 knows that it has happened to a white person and that reality ain’t what Iroh2 thinks or hopes for. The good thing is that I’m sure Iroh2 will now share this with all his / her friends so that they can understand that it does happen to white people too. Or will Iroh2 not say anything.

Your logic is laughable. What you are claiming would be along the lines of, well, one white person was a slave in America so that proves that slavery wasn’t racist.

here is where I come in.. I've seen the videos, the different angles and such.

Those cops hear that kind of stuff (I can't breathe, my hands hurt, my arm, shoulder, neck, etc) every fricken day. It's like somehow they are supposed to make your detention/arrest more comfortable for you..? please.

So, if you watch the vid, that guy wasn't trying to kill him. He was just sort of holding him there. Yes by a knee and his weight on the guys neck.

You want to know why he probably died? Because the crowd was there. The cops were focused on the crowd, watching for someone to let off and come at them.

Your crowd of home boys actually made things worse. Your 'in their face' jibe talking whatever, contributed to this mans' death.

Had there been no threat from the crowd, the cops likely would have been actually focused on that guy, and would have seen him pass out or likely would have noticed.

This idea that he was trying to kill him is insane. It's an involuntary manslaughter, absolutely. But it's not murder.

Now maybe that procedure should be looked at by the police department, because it apparently isn't safe to apply, but does this raise to the level of burning everything down and being the best version of yourself for all the world to see?

I don't think so.

His partner checked for a pulse, said ‘I can’t find one’. Another cop said, ‘should we turn him on his side’? The answer was ‘no’.
I especially like your line, “your crowd of homeboys...”. I guess you missed the white females who were yelling at the cops that GF wasn’t moving or breathing. The only thing missing from your post is “I’m not racist”.

I wonder why there are so many riots in so many places lasting for so long, curious what's different about it this time?...it almost has a feel to it, that some people are blowing off steam from being in draconian lock down mode and told to rat on your neighbor if you see them violating social distance rules and not letting people go to work, which most are wired to do, while they lose their jobs and max out credit cards to live and not seeing how they'll ever climb out of the hole they are now in, and they're acting out. Cabin fever X1000 AKA- just looking for a reason to explode.

Or, maybe people really think a 55'' flat screen is what Floyd would have wanted them to have for free, but I doubt that very much.

Or maybe this is another footnote in a long line of violent responses to police brutality against blacks? It’s almost like a group of people just get fed up and have no other avenue to get attention? The actions of a few who are looting and destroying allows the narrative to be shifted sadly from the actual pain of black communities receiving yet another harsh reminder that white cops have repeatedly been given a pass for killing unarmed black men.

You must not be from MN. This has been boiling for a while and this was the spark that started the fire.
Yep, watch the video of philando castile getting murdered in broad daylight. Hell, add Justine Diamond, though that was at night and a split second (though horrible) decision. Of note, law enforcement now saying that many of those arrested last night were from out of state....

If you understand statistics at a junior high level, you’d realize that there are far more white people than black people, in fact there is about 4.7 times the amount of white people in the US. If we follow that math, take 2,385 white deaths and we should see 507 black deaths, but we actually have 1,254 or 2.5X the expected number.

So a black person in America has 2.5X the likelihood of dying by a police officer than a white person. Please explain that if there is no racism involved. Black men are far more likely to be pulled over, detained, arrested or killed by police officers than white men. What is the reason behind that?
I consider arrest rates as being important. I also dont consider child/baby populations relevant. Look at interactions with adults by police ending in unjustified deaths. You believe they are arrested/contacted by police for no reason other than being black? Give me a break man. You conflated stats after criticizing a statistical analysis. You have clear motive, and skewed reality on who is being arrested and jailed in this country. Communities of higher crime, see higher police activity.

While not deaths, here is the recent Missouri AG report on police stops and data with only 16+. I’m not sure why child/baby population would skew anything, unless you have evidence that there is a strong statistical difference in the racial makeup of children in the US.

Basically the state of Missouri found that whites were pulled over less than expected, but blacks were pulled over at 1.9X the rate of whites, stops were 1.4X more likely to search blacks, but in Missouri they were slightly more likely to find contraband on whites (35.93 to 34.93) if they did search. Ultimately based on stops, blacks were 1.36X to be arrested than whites.

Plenty of room for doubt and argument, you could be lying.

These stats, from the Attorney General of Missouri are misleading? It’s a raw calculation for contraband. If 1000 white stops are made, 356 found contraband, if 1000 black stops are made, 346 found contraband. Yet the average black person is more more likely to be pulled over than the average white person. What is misleading about that? It’s the facts.

I don’t post to Facebook or Twitter, I do have accounts though but keep my circle pretty tight.

Your contraband stat is based on people searched, not all incidents of being pulled over, and it doesnt deal with the control number of 1000 per group like you stated. I don't discredit the stats, but you conflate them together and skew them to fit your narrative

Your mentality proves what I said in another thread. Wipe and reload law enforcement...processes, use of force methodologies, quality of life for cops, eliminating the corruption and bigger than the law mentality. He would probably still be alive if they would have simply sat him up against the tire of the care and stepped back and let him breath. He wasn’t going to flee the scene.
I'm not normally the one to stand up for cops, but why this guy was trying to pass off a fake 20, why would you even put yourself in this situation in the first place?
And now some people got a bunch of tvs and a PlayStation and burned down a city then Omaha and then a Lincoln gas station.
hmmm.. like there is a tv or playstation shortage in the US? I thought everyone already had one.
Cops disagree with you.
He was down and cuffed. No longer a threat.
Also, the knee on the neck in that position is NOT a technique of training, as many people were wondering.
If this is not a normal technique (I assumed it was) then he's def going to be in big trouble. I still wonder why none of the other cops on scene did anything? In fact, I saw a photo where I think 3 cops where leaning on him, holding him down. Did they just make this maneuver up? If they didn't agree with it, why did they do it?
His partner checked for a pulse, said ‘I can’t find one’. Another cop said, ‘should we turn him on his side’? The answer was ‘no’.

I didn't see that video. I only saw where the black guy was bobbing and weaving and acting like he might come at the officer, verbally harassing him, till the asian cop stepped in acted like he was going to hold back the mob. Now how does anything that I have said make me a racist? Please explain that.

There's no way this is true. No one keeps the title to their car IN THE CAR. Your friend probably confused title with registration which every cop is going to ask for.
I've kept a title in an SUV that I was trying to trade off. In one case, I forgot to take it out when I didn't get a deal done. It was in the glove box for weeks until I managed to trade.

Actually true, per search is the accurate word I should have used. The facts remain though, when blacks are searched in Missouri, they are less likely to have contraband than whites. But blacks are more likely to be stopped and more likely to be searched.

Why is that? The simple answer is that police focuses more on high crime areas, which seams reasonable. But it’s a self fulfilling cycle, the crime rates are high in those areas because they are more heavily policed. Poverty also has a massive influence there, that has grown from deliberate segregation of housing and schools in the largest black communities in Missouri. Here is a read on what has happened in St. Louis over the past century that has led to the issues there today, https://scholarship.law.missouri.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=4166&context=mlr . Here’s a similar history of Kansas City https://info.umkc.edu/unews/troost-wall-the-product-of-kansas-citys-long-running-racial-plight/.

Today’s issues, distrust and conflict are rooted in past history and sins of our fathers. Today’s racism isn’t as open, it isn’t as obvious, but the past has shaped our present and shouldn’t be ignored as the contributors of today’s climate.

Blacks in urban environments were forced into specific areas which resulted in poorer educational opportunities, worse economic opportunities and ultimately more crime. It’s a sad reminder to America of our past for many, others just deny it and don’t give a ****, claiming it’s not our fault and question why don’t they just climb out of it?

wasn't aware there was a 3rd degree version of murder.. but thanks for posting that.

I think it will be difficult to prove if that knee/neck thing is an actual approved technique the police use.
Actually there was a cop on national TV who said that it is. He was visibly enraged by what he saw though and said that the technique was used incorrectly and in a manner which obviously could lead to death. This cop lost it and the other officers failed to control him.

Besides the fact that its pretty much immaterial in a murder case, I can speak from experience on this. A business I owned received a fake 20 one time and it wasn't caught until it became part of the daily deposit. Technically I was trying to pass a counterfeit bill. Glad I wasn't arrested and murdered over it.

Are you from the ghetto?

What are we referencing? The 16th century Venetian neighborhoods the Christians pushed the Jewish people into? Nope

Maybe the European ghettos that were mostly formed by Jewish families? Or the ones carved out by the Nazi party?

No, you are probably referring to the result of segregationist polices in America that we currently have as a dichotomy of pride from our black communities vs disdain from the general population?

In that regard, nope, not that either. But thanks for the veiled, racially charged assholerary question. As if being born somewhere or growing up somewhere completely outside of ones control means a damn thing.

Prolly not unreasonable to think what I posted had some merit, as did your take...but setting those theories aside for a minute...the way all those people are acting now, I will argue is sinking to the level of that ******* cop that started all this, and they are losing the fight for social justice with every broken window. Most people are just going to think they're acting like animals and deserve some rubber bullets to the body, and I would agree with everyone who does. So they had a golden opportunity to try and bring about some change for the better, and show the world they aren't a bunch of animals, and blew it.

The question I have is who is rioting and inflaming the situation? I don’t want to go political, but I don’t think the majority of these riots are truly community outrage. I think they are driven by outside groups (some white) that are leveraging the situation to rebel as what they see as a facist political climate overall. It’s been growing and is only getting worse IMO.

And thats totally reasonable. If I was printing a bunch of bills I should definitely be arrested, but that's also a federal crime to be left to federal law enforcement. Either way, lets say that the guy had a bag full of counterfeit bills: what is an appropriate response for LEOs? Probably not this.

We have due process for a reason. Generally speaking, due process doesn't involve 8 minutes of a cop kneeling on a person's neck until they die.

But I’m glad you “figured me out”. I’d post my perspective on you from 3-4 posts, but I’ll just refer to my above generalization of humans overall.

Derp derp derp derpety derp. What you say means nothing. I responded to a statement in a way that is unarguable. You not wanting to accept as fact my own personal experience isn’t any argument at all. Someone makes a statement like “that would never happen to a white person,” I respond “I am a white person and that exact thing happened to me,” and your way of debating it is “yeah, but how do I know you’re being 100% truthful.” It’s a nonstarter. One, it’s my own personal experience that you were not present for, so I would always win the debate on whether or not I’m telling the truth, or do you think you are better able to give an opinion on the truthfulness of a story that you have no understanding of (I bet that you may just think that you can). More importantly, the truth of it isn’t relevant to the point. The facts as presented in response to the statement from Iroh2 directly refute Iroh’s statement, period. The truthfulness of it is a separate issue. I don’t expect you to understand this, so you don’t really need to respond to it.

No, “we” don’t lie and tell half-truths frequently. I am nothing like you, that’s a fact. Yes, you and your type are easy to spot. Unfortunately, there are a lot of you out there. Keep posting Eugene. It’s like watching a dog chase it’s own tail.

Amazing, we found the perfect person who never lies or tells a half truth. Except you keep claiming I’m following something/someone without any basis beside your own Anyone can post anything on the Internet, do you have someone to back up your experience? If you do or don’t, please realize I don’t care either way.

You are our knight in shining armor, thank you brave soul. Actually, sorry, that’s not armor, it’s tin foil. Continue on oh virtuous one.
