Beat #23 Memphis. They’d beat us by 5 TDs. Why do we suck so bad. This is terrible! I need some Yeah Baby words of wisdom to cheer me up

It really is stunnning. I know fans always think things are worse or better than they are. Seriously, we may be the worst team ever realtive to its competition. You couldnt replicate this if you tried. Ash is a terrible coach. Ash at rutgers is certainly a contender for the worst all time.

But Hobbs said he would be a HC again. Maybe we need to fire Hobbs due to his poor judgment

Why do you suck so bad? It’s quite obvious. While RU may have hit the lottery in conference realignment, your administration doesn’t know its head from its ***.

You think we became competitive by luck all of a sudden? We got rid of the dead wood that was making the asinine coaching hires that plagued us for years in the BE.

You’re right Owl. Good luck to Temple. I will be rooting for them.

Thanks. AAC is no joke this season. SMU up next. We have the 3:30 time slot on ESPN or the Deuce for that matchup. They’ll be tough.

I know all too well what the diehards are going through. You have to hope they choose someone who can right the ship and rebuild from the rubble Flood and Ash created. But until you get an administration truly behind the program, you’ll continue to spin your wheels.

Yeah we should be trying to steal your athletic director or the previous one. Lots of very good hire. Even at perennial winners you see the impact of an administration that isnt concerned with winning.

He’s still there. Has done great work. Even with the Manny Diaz fiasco, the program continues to hum along.

We’re hoping Aaron McKie can bring TU hoops back to glory.

Who’s doing that? We were once Eastern Indy rivals whether you want to admit that or not. Be happy for us diehards who sat through many gloomy seasons that we now have a competitive ball club. We don’t earn the annual revenues of a P5 but at least we are competitive. More than I can say during our BE tenure.

Problem with most of the former Eastern independents, with the exception of PSU, all of the other schools outkicked their punt coverage and are in over their heads.

I thought the current one has only been there a few seasons. Is that not the case did he hire addazio?

Temple understands they’re not a destination for a HC and are constantly mining the lower levels for talented up and coming HC coaches knowing theirs might only stick around for three or four years if successful. They and schools like Cincinnati and Buffalo do a great job of that. Rutgers should pay attention

I was just going to say cincinnati is another good example. Obviously ideally we are a better job. However if you are constantly have coaches take better jobs or get considered for better jobs things are going well.

Rutpsy,

You’re talking about our AD right? He’s been there for awhile. Former AD hired Golden and Addazio. Current AD gave Rhule his shot and hired Collins, Diaz and now Carey

After what went down with Diaz, we got extremely wise and put a $10 mil price tag on Coach Carey in case a P5 came snooping around. You may get our coaches, but you will pay for him.

And for the silly posters on this board who continue to yell that we have no money - how do you explain Temple. They make 3 million of so annually while we rake in 27 million and soon to be 50 plus. They would lay 50 on us and also out draw us now.

More like $13 mil now with the new deal and the other deals we have with UA and stuff like that, but who’s counting.

It’s not about the money. It’s about having competent people in charge knowing what to look for in a successful candidate. That’s where you guys fail miserably. You may have gotten it right with hoops but football choices have been disastrous

Thanks yeah. That is what I thought. Where did the former end up? Carey is a very good coach.

Exactly.
“More Money” isn’t some automatic panacea.
It just leads to more expansive mistakes unless you change the process/mindset.

Temple are also an excellent rebuttal to constantly repeated:
“Rutgers is different than every other job. Only Schiano/NJ guy could ever be successful here and recruit NJ.”

I said it a while back and I'll say it again; ever since we entered the B1G our administration is using the 90's Temple model: make minimal investments into football and just make sure you keep cashing those conference checks. TU wised up when their program was almost killed off in the mid-2000's and they learned from their mistakes. We obviously haven't yet.

Joe,

On the money with this comment. It took us getting rid of our president, a bozo who was steadfast against college athletics. Any level for that matter. You can bet dollar to donuts that had we had our current administration in place in the 90s instead of the fools we did have calling the shots, we would most certainly not be in the AAC today.

Be extremely thankful the Big10 won’t pull the same stunt that the BE did with us.

Look at our coaching salary pool since entering the B1G. It's an absolute JOKE...and when they try to 'open up the checkbook', they let Ash hire friggin McNulty and his MySpace/ Motorola RAZR offense and Buh, a guy whose defenses got shredded wherever he went.

It was. If you told me 20 years ago that we could play with the likes of MD, GT and a pretty good Memphis team and beat them, I would have looked at you as if you were crazy. Program has come a very long way from the dark years.

You guys were fortunate GT hired Collins. He didn't stay long enough to tank your program.

If that isn’t the truth. No one was shedding tears when he left.

Can’t wait for week 1 of next season. Face off against none other than Manny Diaz and the Canes. Would love to see us stuff his *** like we did Collins this season.

Barchi lied...and everyone knew when he said money isnt an issue....this school still does not get it and 40 years of prior evidence says it never willl unless we flush the BOG out with a coffee enema

TU had been doing a great job recruiting under Rhule/Daz/Golden and there was a noticeable change under Collins. Kids that Rhule would have locked down were getting turned off and your classes under him were noticeably worse. I think if he had stayed for even 1 more year it would have flipped you downward fast. Instead, you got a crew that stabilized things on the field quickly and if you keep winning, that will end up selling itself.

No one is giving a recap of our game. It was asked how we are doing it being we don’t receive a P5 paycheck. I gave my thoughts on the matter.

For everyone complaining "Ash was fired too early! Hobbs screwed up!"

Imagine we were UConn and still had to look at Ash/Edsall getting blown out every week.

At least Rutgers has confirmation of a change coming.

McNulty was a nostalgia hire. It didn’t work out because he didn’t have Zuttah & Anthony Davis as linemen this time around.
