Guy got pretty lit up on twitter.

Don't follow twitter closely. Is calling out schools by name par for the coaching course now?
Lots of Rutgers fans on his case, like bori blanco.

Here's a couple of non-RU ones:

How did Temple football surpass us? Temple had 3 players drafted and 6 players sign free agent contracts. If we played Temple last year, I think they would've beat us. We have way more support and better facilities than Temple in every single way. I don't get how Maryland and Temple had better programs than we did last year.

Two things to consider. Rhule is considered a good talent evaluator and with the draft, Temple was pretty top heavy in seniors while RU with JPO and Hamilton out didn't have half the number of elig candidates

Got to admit, when RU joined the B1G, never expected the program to sink into the abyss. The rise of Temple since then, only magnifies the extent of the ineptitude of RU previous athletic administration. It is still so hard to believe how bad we blew the opportunity of a lifetime.

Cheer up, bub. There is no abyss, and no opportunity has been "blown." We are on the upward trend. Be happy!!!

A lot of talk of potential and upside in this thread. Of course, RU has a bigger upside than TU. But the fact that if the two teams met on the field today, we'd be handed a lopsided loss exactly shows the RU administration's ineptitude as you stated. It shouldn't even be a contest. And this isn't a TU put down.

Flood's first few years he had a better program than Temple because it was a respectable one when he took the RU HC position. But the way he ran the program and his recruiting made RU FB the type of program decent mid majors were considered better.
Temple is a fairly good mid major that has had a string of HCs that made it a decent football program, but it's upside is still far below what a properly run Rutgers program would be.
While talking about the Owls, don't forget that they have had only 2 winning seasons ( though real good ones the last two years under Rhule, both 10-4 >AAC<) , one 6-6 >AAC< season and 2 losing ones (2-10 >AAC< & 4-7 >BE<) in the last 5 years.
Rutgers under Flood went 9-4 (Be Co:champs) his first season then 6-7 (AAC) then 8-5 ( in B1G) and 4-8 then 2-10 under Ash.

No excuses , just that Temple isn't the type of mid-major powerhouse like Boise St
might be considered. To become like Boise, Temple needs to continue what Rhule has done under it's new HC
Rutgers , though fallen in stature, shouldn't be considered lesser program by it's fans.and Ash needs to bring back the potential RU FB had before Flood took that away before any RU fan talks smack about any program that has a winning record .

Remember beating them 30-10 in 2012? I was down in Philly as were many of us. In retrospect the game was a warning about Flood. We were down 10-0 at the half with GS' talent.

And then we barely edged them in 2013. It was a miracle Carroo TD to end the game to win it.

Coaching, coaching, coaching on top of all talent leaving and not being replaced.

This boards' fascination with temple is funny...if we were consistently mediocre to good NO ONE would care about that school in the second crappiest city in the US (rejoice philly, Chicago sucks worse than you do!!)

I think some of the "fascination" goes back to a time back when both schools played yearly and were, I think, hated rivals. Some of the newer RU fans I think get their rocks off because we aren't on the same page anymore, but feel put downs are necessary even if we experience some success. It's like we shouldn't be able to land any bona fide D1 prospects and its perplexing to some that we do.

Really have no idea how the Ash and Collins tenures are going to play out but if both are able to build (or in our case) continue to build momentum, it could make for an interesting series. I'm looking forward to next season when we begin a home and home with BC and Steve Fraudazzio.

Remember it well. I was F'ing fuming during halftime. I wanted that whole F'ing coaching staff gone at halftime and that stupid F'in screeching chicken was annoying. Even when we came back I was still fuming and knew this guy sucked balls and would lead us no where. The only other time I was more pissed was sitting in that sh*t hole in Connecticut watching us lose the championship. They must hold the world's record for most drunken dipsh*ts in one place at the same time.

Post of the thread IMO.

I think it goes both ways. TU had the last D1A football player (Mo Jones) that came out of my HS and we played for years in the BE so I tend to keep an eye on 'em. On the boards/Internet a number of TU fans seem to frequently mention Rutgers as well and make the same inane comments some of our fans make (I'll never forget some TU fans mocking us for winning the 'lowly' Pinstripe Bowl in '11 while lauding your New Mexico Bowl win, as well as both fanbases' selective memories with no sense of context at times)...also, with Daz, he did at least recruit you some key pieces during his brief tenure.

Anyone of consequence who came in during the Dazzler's stint at Temple was the product of good scouting by his assistants. The guy cut Haason Reddick from the team before he left for BC. That's how much he knew.

So your position is that New Brunswick, or maybe you mean Newark, maybe Paterson, how about Jersey City is better than Philly? You wanna rethink that one my friend? And don't give me NYC, we don't play in NYC, we are the state university of the great state of New Jersey, so name the better city in Jersey, not New York that is better than Philly. Maybe Camden, Atlantic City, Linden, Elizabeth?

Juile Hermann and Flood were the perfect storm of terrible. As big of a mistake as Flood was, I get why he was hired at the time.

Julie Hermann was horrible for Rutgers athletics.

Joe,

SHU is so correct about everything he wrote or has written in the past about Sergeant Slaughter. Some of the stories that I have heard from the inside about that jacka$$ are flat out despicable. He burned a lot of bridges on his way out of Philly and isn't missed. Hindsight now says that Rhule should have been given the shot after Golden left for Miami but the AD at the time didn't think he was ready. You can only wonder where the program might be today had he been given those 2 seasons we wasted with the other idiot but what goes around comes around and I'm hoping we truly beat his a$$ next season.

Why the f-k do we apologize to Temple for anything? They had a couple of good years and we had a couple of bad years. Big Sh-t they are not a better program and they have no shot of ever being better.
USF, UCF, Houston, Cindy, hell, even UConn gets mentioned to join the big boy conferences, Temple will not.

And just think, one f*ck up knew that the other f*ck up was a complete screw up and wanted him fired. But our boosters once again f*cked upped and wouldn't help out in his firing because they wanted a proven head coach. Fast forward and both f*ck ups are gone and they are backing a former assistant coach with no head coaching experience. Now that's what I call f*cked up. This all could've been avoided if Johnny went straight to the police.

Yes she was, but it's been said she wanted Flood out but couldn't raise the buyout.
Then a booster came in and donated the funds to give Flood an extension.

If temple was in the ACC they would be a force to be reckoned with due to their commitment to big-time sports. I believe Rhule made a big mistake leaving Temple.

Pat Hobbs would have gotten the boosters on board.

People with money are typically very savvy. Giving her funds would have been a colossal risk without having serious parameters put around it.

People trust Pat much more, and for good reason.

Temple has been better at football than RU...twice in about 20 years? Plus RU would mop the floor at Temple at sports like wrestling, lax or soccer if they had them, and is weaker academically. NB is safer than North Philly. If my kids got into both schools, Rutgers is better all around.

Was sad to see MR leave. He was on the verge of building something potentially special. TU made him a millionaire with what we paid him. Baylor was able to double his salary. Hard for any of us to pass up, but he'll have his work cut out for him and for a guy and his wife "who loved big city life", Waco doesn't exactly offer that if anyone has tuned in to watch that Fixer Upper show. However his tenure turns out, Baylor is on the hook for 30 mil which is FU money for most of us.

Temple has about one or two challenging games a year. Everyone else they play is mediocre.

This

Rutgers should have offered Rhule a HC position.
Rutgers should have been willing to pay top dollar and Rhule might have not have been the top choice.
Most of the time you'll have a better chance if having a winning program if you're willing to spend what it takes to have one.

Going on the cheap usually is a losing proposition and fans start playing what if ( place coach's name here) was hired , even if he/she probably wouldn't have accept the job with the salary that probably would have been offered

How would you Gauge the other 18 years? Were we leaps and bounds better than them or were we marginally better than them? Like I said in my original post, put them in a P5 conference with a coach like Rhule then come back with the geriatrics crew and tell me who's the moron.
