Seriously considering switching to T-Mobile after 15+ years with AT&T for my cell phone service.

Unlimited price seems to good to pass up..basically what I’m paying for ATT after fees/taxes but plenty of other perks.

Only concern is the service..never had much issues with ATT.

Anyone with T-Mobile have any service issues in the area?

Had Tmobile from 2001 to Sandy. No problems until Sandy when it completely died for a week. Switched to Verizon and never looked back.

I have had several weak signal and call drop issues with Verizon. Had to switch phones twice to address the issues. Never had this problem with T-Mobile.

Thanks, but don’t have cable at all. Cut the cord 2 years ago and love it!
Get a beeper and don’t look back just as you did with cutting the cord. You get what you pay for sometimes and cell phone service is a good example of that. There is Verizon and then everyone else.

I’ve never had anything but TMobile. It works fine. Travelled internationally and works fine there too. Price is reasonable. I use it for business so it needs to work. Not one complaint about it other than all the Verizon folks who look at me like I’m dumb for having TMobile.

When it’s no longer cheaper and it doesn’t work I’ll switch. But right now works like a champ.

Verizon had the best signal back in the day but easily the worst costumer service of anything I ever paid for and expensive!! Switch to T-Mobile 5 years ago and the best company out there.

My large cap company pushed us to them a few years ago. It was fine. I went back to Verizon when I retired..rest of family on that plan. Plus I still get corp discounts.

To answer your question. 20+ year Verizon guy but I wouldn't have any issue switching if price was factor. But I found Verizon had a much more consistent signal though when on the road. Much better on the east coast.

I find all the services to be similar in the Tri-State area. It's when you head away from the cities that you need to check which provider will work for you. Also keep in mind that not all phones are equal. T-Mobile has been rolling out B71 but it's only available on a small percentage of phones.

He means internet.

Do you not have broadband to the home either? You just use LTE for everything?

Check various coverage maps to see what carried can hit your frequent locations. They probably have settings of key for 4G LTE and 3G and so on.

Several providers have wifi calling too.. I know ATT does.. T-mobile also. How that works is this.. suppose you have spotty coverage at home.. or in the basement. But your wifi router signal can get there.. in your phone's setting you likely have the ability to turn on wifi calling. Then your cell will get calls over your internet... assuming you have broadband and a good wifi signal and you have wifi turned on. And while using wifi none of your data use counts toward any kind of mobile data limit.

Perhaps the thing to look for now is future proofing.. as 5G LTE nears it will be a game changer. Most phones cannot do it so it is a bit far off still.. but some of the providers will have that backbone up sooner than others. When that arrives, I think it will be very possible to do without wired broadband... so unlimited plans with deals for TV channels and such, you essentially will have IP TV.. and cast everything to the local TV where you want to view it. When you see TVs coming with 5G LTE then you know its time for "cable" to go wireless.

5G and LTE are 2 different generations. 4G is LTE.

I had AT&T from 2008 to 2017 and then switched to T-Mobile. T-Mobile's coverage and speed blows AT&T away. I was paying $90 a month for unlimited data on AT&T. I now pay about $25 for Google Fi (MVNO of T-Mobile and Sprint but I never use Sprint)

Just switched from Verizon to T-Mobile last month. Price difference was too good to pass up. For all these years, I paid much more than I probably should of. One hiccup porting over 1 of my daughters phone, however, their Customer Service fixed the problem (longer than normal expected time dealing with their Customer Service). So far, no service issues at all, noting the other daughter hates T-Mobile, more from a brand perspective. She'll just have to deal since I'm paying the bill.

I have Verizon. I have friends with T-Mobile, Sprint, and AT&T. In Central NJ, we all get good coverage. During a road trip last year, we all encountered places where we did not have coverage .... but different spots. So there were some places I didn't have coverage and only the AT&T guy had service or only the T-Mobile guy had service. Also, there were places where a phone would have call service but not data service.

If you are thinking of switching, you might want to find someone with T-Mobile who can confirm that you have call and data service in the places you use most (e.g., home, work, etc).

Cut your bill in half? That intrigued me, so I went to the T-Mobile site and looked at their rates. I'd save $10 bucks a month, essentially $5 for me and $5 for my wife. Certainly something I might explore when I am ready to replace our phones. But not enough to warrant replacing our phones now.

T-Mobile is superior to AT&T unless you are in the boondocks parts of the country.

I was paying almost $90 a month for Verizon (Phone included with unlimited data (no longer exist)). Now I am paying $55 a month (phone already paid for and data I believe is 3 gigs which I never go over)

So it was a big difference for me. It depends on the plans of course! I might be a extreme example.

I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile a few months ago and haven't had any issues. Unlimited talk/text/data for $35 a month, hard to beat it.

The cost difference gets bigger the larger your data plan with Verizon is. Also have to look at fees.

Just met with T Mobile on switching business accounts. Very tempting. We're going to test signal strength at critical locations. They rolled out a lot of 600 Mhz in rural areas recently and may wrap up buying Sprint soon.

Verizon still has the best overall US coverage, but T Mobile may have reached the good enough point for me.

There is an app called Open Signal that lets you compare signals from different carriers on a map.

I have an unlimited data plan for my family and probably reduced my bill by close to half by switching. It was very eye opening.

Been with T-Mobile for over 10 years, just love them. If you are , I believe over 55, they have a discount as well as for military. Great international coverage.

Verizon must be in trouble. Their customer service is sales people on twitter, and if you ask for discounts to lower your bill they offer you discounts. But they raise your bill. They have a promo to lock people into a contract of a free Echo but reading the forum most people did not receive it. I think they are going to go bankrupt, a company can't sustain when they are so out of control.

My BIL is a lawyer for Verizon. He’s been saying for over 3 years that T-Mobile has been eating their lunch for years. Verizon used to be the best. They haven’t been for years. People just keep saying they are the best to justify overpaying each month. The truth is all the providers are close now. As long as I have an unlimited data plan, I’m fine.

Right now we are paying about $90/month to purchase 3 phones on our plan, for another 9-14 months. Does T-mobile do a buyout for the phones?

I ran the savings calculator, and once our phones are paid off, T-mobile only saves $24/month. We never had a problem with their coverage/service until they blacked out during Sandy.
