wtf I'm I not seeing?
I saw at least 4 -6 UNC games and was never impressed by his play or ball IQ.
I dropped my season tix when they took Josh Jackson over Fox... If they take White; they are dead to me.
I just hope Devin can get the hell outa here...

rant over...carry on, with the McDaniel's threads

Coby White can score at 3 levels. Showed he can run a team. Has an excellent handle for a guy his size. Has shown that the lights font bother him and heard he was like SGA, first in gym last out. Gotta love work ethic. Coby White is a star in the making, especially the way NBA is protecting players and continual movement

He was one of the best PG's in the country this past year. I don't like UNC, but White was a fun player to watch. He will be a big time PG in the NBA in 3 - 4 years.

I can see where that would factor in. It seemed like most of the mistakes i seen him made were mental errors. Kid was a hell of a scorer at times, but he had the clamps on him with Ashton out there

Who cares??

Only memory I have of that dude was Ashtan Hagans suffocating him so badly on defense that he was afraid to bring the ball up the court.

White can play. Any attempts to suggest otherwise are just funny.

Booker’s new contract kicks in next season. He ain’t going anywhere for awhile.

Think I might go with Culver, assuming he lasts that long. I like him to initiate and defend and leave the bulk of the scoring to Booker.

They have booker and ayton they should go for a stud forward
Yea, with Jackson a bust, wing forward would be nice, think they want someone to be able to distribute to booker and Ayton more...if booker and Ayton could perfect the pick n roll...Coby may be a great fit, but see other blaring needs as well. They need more two way players and a deep threat to match with booker...we will see

I wouldn't pass on Reddish if he's still there. I know that sounds crazy.. but he was a top5 pick.. and at times top3.. but he was stuck playing behind two black holes.. I mean Zion was bringing the ball up more often than Cam..

Knowing that the elite talent will be gone by the 4th pick.. Taking Cam at 6th is the smart play. He still has potential to be the best player in the draft 5 years down the road, where as I don't see Hunter, Rui, White, or even Culver with that ability.

I wouldn't be too surprised to see teams draft and stash a ton of Euros in this draft. It's an overall thin class and they did this before some years ago.

Were those 2 guys forcing Reddish to throw up bricks, have more turnovers than assists, and average only slightly more rebounds per game than Tyler Ulis did at UK?

Reddish looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane (assuming Jane can only hit 35.6% of her shots). People are going to be tantalized by a guy that size occasionally hitting some jumpshots, until they realize that he's Andrew Wiggins minus.

I’m no scout, from the little bit of him I watched, I liked his game and thought he had the potential to grow into a very solid nba pg

Don’t have housing situated yet but planning Biltmore or Arcadia

He's a talented player who fits where the league is going. You can play him on or off the ball, he can guard multiple positions (down the road), and he's a tremendous scorer in transition and at all three levels.

In this draft, you could do a lot worse than addressing a position of need with a guy like him. Especially as a team that has wasted top 5 picks on guys like Bender and Jackson.

Culver I can see ahead of him, not sure about the rest. I think Cam Reddish was completely thrown off by Zion, and then RJ being #2. Their shot attempts during Michigan State were quite lopsided.

I don't think we saw a lot of what Cam had to offer, and he also came out the other day saying he was more used to having the ball in his hand.

I hate to defend any Duke player, but for the draft, I'm trying to find value. Maybe Cam makes that push to be a #1 player had he played at another school, so if he falls to 6, and beyond, do you grab him?

Reminds me of Mike Conley, and Conley has been very successful financially, but not as an elite PG.

I prefer his teammate, Nassir Little....would have been a straight-to-the-league player and Roy underused him behind Cam Johnson.

I don't even think about Reddish unless I'm out of the top 10. Maybe if he plays at the combine and makes some huge statement, but otherwise, no way.

Production counts. Yeah, it needs some context, but the thing Reddish is complaining about is the thing that's the biggest red flag, because when he did have the ball in his hands, he made bad decisions and took a lot of really bad, contested shots. That's how you commit a lot of turnovers and have an abysmal FG% (particularly non- 3 pt FG%. His 3 point shooting wasn't good, but also wasn't awful. You'd be hard-pressed to find many players with that shot volume who were as bad on 2 point attempts).

I guess you can look at that and see a player struggling because of an uncomfortable situation, but you can also look at it as a player getting exposed early.

Some NBA team is going to see the size and see the jump shot and pull the trigger early, and I think there are strong odds they end up regretting it.

Most NBA teams would be more than happy to draft a guy like Conley, who's been a starter since Day 1 and a key player on multiple teams that won 50 or more games. You can parse "elite", and it's true that he's never been the best PG in the league, but he's had an extremely successful career. Very comparable career to someone like Derek Harper or Rod Strickland.

If you can get that in the draft, you take it, even inside the top 5, unless it means you passed on a future HOF player. Conley, BTW, is clearly one of the top 4 players from his draft, along with obvious 1 Kevin Durant, and Al Horford and Marc Gasol.

Yeah. Sometimes we need to take the blue tinted glasses off. All of us would’ve taken the way he was playing in March over Hagans. Unfortunately for us, Hagans peaked in January

Who is your top10 at the moment?

I guess, as you alluded to in a post below about Mike Conley, you take any player you can that will be a mainstay for 10 or so years. That's pretty much a win as long as you're not passing on a future great.

Cam could be a total bust, and he might have some motor/attitude concerns (he did make those comments, true or not). But I guess I look at the other top guys and think "Who could be 10-year starter?". Culver. Little and I'd throw White in there.

Some teams draft Euro players simply to save on salary: They don't have to pay them anything, as opposed to a near $1mil salary for the 26th guy.

Rockets did this a few times if I recall.

In his last season of EYBL when he had the ball in his hands the whole time he shot 29.7% from three and 40% from the field on almost 300 shots. I’m pretty sure that’s just who he is.

Williamson, Morant, Barrett, Culver, Hunter, White, Hayes, Garland for sure. Then I might consider Reddish, but while also considering Clarke, Little, Langford, and Hachimura, maybe some others, unless someone I really trust convinces me that Reddish's stats are totally worth ignoring.

Well I wish I could back this post up with me actually watching Reddish... but I didn't watch much. I can't watch Duke because either I am not mature enough or they get such a good whistle I turn the TV off.

What scares me about him was his efficiency was HORRIBLE. 35% FG? With that length and his "smoothness" I keep hearing about.. Also, the little I have watched I would say his does look coordinated and glides up and down the court, but I did not see an overly explosive athlete.

On the flip side, he's young and will probably take basketball MUCH more seriously now that he is going to get paid. Just making a roster for 10 years means you will be a multi-millionaire but max contract money is CRAZY now and should be very very motivating. Still think his best case outlook is a 3 and D type player. He will really need to work on his handle and his ability to attack closeouts to reach a higher level than that. Hell, a good 3 and D player still makes 10-15million as a veteran.

Back to OP.. Coby White is a ball player. I think at worst he is a solid NBA player.

I think that’s also the point where you have to start looking at PJ. Wingspan of +7, improved rebounding, shooting, shot blocking. He starts to become a safe (though not exciting) pick around 9 in this draft, imo.
