I have been coming to this website for over 10 years and during that time this place has meant a lot to me. I think I have pretty much checked these forums every day for the past 10 years. I do not post a lot but I have still gotten a lot of joy out of this website. I moved away from Lexington 5 years ago, and this website gave me an outlet to read / talk about UK that wouldn't have been possible otherwise.
This brings me to the reason I am writing this post. I am running in the NYC marathon this fall and Stupid Cancer is sponsoring my run. I found out about Stupid Cancer through my job as a software engineer. Stupid Cancer came to us because they wanted to build a social media platform for young adults and their families that have been affected by cancer. Through their social media platform they are trying to end patient isolation by building communities, providing education, and fostering meaningful relationships. The mission of Stupid Cancer really resonated with me because of the community of UK fans on this site and how much that community means to me. I understand the power of giving people a place to share and connect and I believe people who have been affected by cancer should have such a place. Stupid Cancer is trying to make that happen.
As part of Stupid Cancer sponsoring my run I have agreed to campaign and collect donations on their behalf. So, if you can, please use this link (https://give.stupidcancer.org/fundraiser/1346588) to help me support this awesome cause! Even if you don't donate I urge you to check out out their website specially if you or a loved one has been affected by cancer.
Thank you for reading!
TLDR
I am running in the NYC marathon to raise money for the non-profit Stupid Cancer. Please help me support this organization!
