Just finished it myself. Love that they've made some high-stakes changes.

I thought Cary Elwes was way underused.

Just finished it with my kids.. 8 episodes of fantastic entertainment. They skirt the line of me being comfortable watching it with young teens... but it’s so endearing I forgive them for it. The last episode is absolutely outstanding.

They need to find a better way to close that ****** looking thing. Also, Mrs. Wheeler has got it going on (insert Stacy's Mom song here).

This was my question too

So was that dude a terminator or nah?

Was it an 80s nostalgia nod to the the terminator or are they going to incorporate some skynet/terminator storylines?

The character was definitely a nod to the terminator at the very least.

Does it bother anybody else that the podunk town with the tiny downtown somehow sprouted a massive mall?

Yeah, but I love Parks & Rec and had to just let it go when Pawnee, Indiana often sprouted 15 story buildings and NPR like radio stations.

If I can get past 11's supernatural powers, the demons from another dimension and the general outrageous lack of parenting on the show... I guess I'm cool with the inexplicable demographics of Hawkins, Indiana.

Nah, the [spoilers] funded the construction of the mall. And the overall population of Hawkins might be small (I think the Duffers said it was in the low tens of thousands of people), the whole area might have enough people to support a mall. You have to remember that cities with 20-30k people were getting malls back in the 1980s. Also, if you go with the theory that Hawkins is based on other typical national lab cities, it's a small town in suburbia.

What I want to know is how they managed to fully build it in under a year.

I can't do it. The only thing worse to me was watching characters on the walking dead crank up cars that had been sitting unused for months or years. I demand a little more realism from my zombie shows. At the very least, everytime a car cranked up, the character should have said something like, "thank god, we found a car with a [brand name of car batter sponsor for the show] battery" everytime a car cranked right up after sitting around for a year. I would appreciate selling out for money more than the lazy, unrealistic writing.**
