Sony and Marvel couldn't come to terms, so we won't see Tom Holland in the MCU again. Sad day for the comic book movie community, particularly the MCU. They've lost some HUGE characters this summer with this and the events of Endgame.

About fell out of my chair when I saw the news. Sucks...big time! Obviously Feige will figure it out, but where do they go from here?

I know I'll be in the minority but I don't mind this at all. If anything, I think the MCU was growing too big, especially with the X-Men and Fantastic Four rumored to be joining in a few years.

A little thinning of the herd doesn't bother me one bit.

Except that Sony can't help themselves to screw up this entire franchise, so this won't be any different unless an about-face occurs.

Matrix 4 was announced today so there's that !

What? Why?

And I agree with dawgman about Sony. Although, now he can be in the Venom story line & I didn't hate that movie at all. His main story arch with the wall crawler, Carnage, & the Clone Saga was my hey day of comic reading.

If some of the rumors are true about this next Star Wars movie having time travel and changing story arcs from older movies then all future Star Wars movies might end up canceled.lol

Actually, the latest reports are that Sony and Disney are still negotiating. Hopefully, they can get it worked out, because Sony will ruin Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield movies were terrible, Spider-Man 3 with emo Tobey Maguire was awful and Venom is one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

I would imagine most fans (myself included) would boycott any future Sony Spider-Man movies.

Venom sucked but it made a lot of money, and Into the Spider-Verse, while very different from mainstream live action movies, was fantastic. So Sony is feeling good about themselves right now and probably thinking they don’t need Marvel. I totally disagree with that notion based on their track record with live action Spider-Man movies in the last decade, but I guess I can at least understand why Sony is doing this.

Sony only has to make over half what a normal Spiderman movie would make to actually bring in more $$$ with the deal Marvel proposed. The ****** Andrew Garfield movies still made over $700 Mil worldwide so that would be more profitable than the last Spiderman movie if it was split 50/50. At the end of the day, money in the bank is the important part rather than making great movies. It will take a Spiderman movie shitting the bed like FF4 or the last XMen movie for the Marvel deal to make sense financially.

It was a brilliant move on Sony's end. They basically let Disney put in all the work on rebuilding the Spiderman brand while Sony made most of the profit.Nice to see when a company like Disney gets played.

Yeah, heard they were still negotiating, and this is probably just another tactic. Also heard that Sony would only give Disney 5% of the profits on the movies, whereas Disney wanted 50%. I have a sneaking suspicion that will get into the 25-30% range and they'll strike a deal. Spiderman FFH is now the highest grossing Sony movie ever, so something tells me they'll settle this. Marvel needs Spidey, and Spidey needs Marvel.
