There's a parcel of wooded property directly behind my house, totaling about 15 acres. For years it was basically derelict, other than to serve as a dumping ground for random miscreants. It's changed hands a number of times as optimistic developers have looked to circumvent or obtain relief from the zoning restrictions that limit the entire parcel to a single structure due to various setbacks, wetlands, etc.

About a dozen years ago somebody bought it and decided to build a single house - a really big one, in the hopes that the resale value of a custom McMansion on a large wooded plot would fetch big bucks. This first dude started construction on the House in the Woods and then promptly ran out of money after it was framed and sheathed.

There is sat for ten years. Kids partied in it, chickens roosted in it. Finally, a little more than two years ago, somebody else picked the thing up. They finished the house and it sold quickly.

The occupants - a couple, as far as I can tell - have been there for two years. He comes and goes at all hours. She rarely leaves the house. They have very expensive cars - Mercs and Porsches. In two years they haven't stopped to speak to anyone in the neighborhood. Those of us along the property line just see the cars moving up and down the quarter mile-long driveway from the house to the street.

They do, however, have odd visitors. Odd as in guys who will pull into their driveway but stop about a third of the way up. After a couple of minutes we'll see one of Mr. Neighbor's cars come down the driveway. He'll pull up alongside the visitor's car, driver's window to driver's window.

Sometimes they just sit like that for a while, obviously talking, then everyone goes on their way.

Sometimes one of the guys will get out and get into the other guy's car for a bit.

Other times they'll open their trunks and exchange what appear to be gym bags.

So... yeah. Sketchy ****.

Have you talked to anyone in law enforcement about this?

Nah.

Fundamentally I don't really care what the guy's into. I just want to be sure that there won't be some weird **** going down that results in my having stray rounds coming through my windows.

I'm also thinking about cameras for the back. I've got them out front, already.

Would definitely get them in the back. 4k video, night vision. Sounds like LE is going to inevitably show up at your door asking for info.

So in Manalapan a few years ago there was a drug house in plain sight on Gordons Corner and Taylors Mills road I believe you might know the house I'm referring to.

Similar situation just not as well hidden as this home. I'm sure LE knows what is happening here and will eventually take care of it. Cant really hide anymore with drones

That house is actually at the intersection of Taylor Mills and Tennant. My oldest daughter was friends with that guy's daughter. The kid was supposed to have this completely over the top Sweet 16 party, everyone was invited. The feds raided the place that morning.

Yep you are correct on the location. All the kids knew this young lady she was a "popular Kid"

Whose creepier the guy with the cars mindin his own Business or you and the neighbors busy peekin out windows and putting up cameras to see whats goin on in yer neighbors property. Sheesh NJ go figure
Oh come on.. how do you notice that and not get suspicious and watch? You don't care one bit how "sketchy" your neighbors are? Sounds like you might be the sketchy one on your neighborhood.

You wouldn't by any chance have some euro luxury cars and a long driveway on a heavily wooded lot would you?

Arm, Real has a sweet but humongous G Shep that could uncover the truth with one easy fence leap and a short welcome to the neighborhood visit.

+1 on the cameras. Very shady stuff going on. Perhaps crooked financial stuff? Doesn't sound like drugs, unless the neighbor is very high up in the food chain.

What I got out of the OP was that there evidently are free range chickens roaming the neighborhood.

There used to be, yes. Twenty or thirty of them.

Nobody knew where they came from.

And nobody knows where they went...

You don't seem all that bright.

You can't, for instance, point to a single thing I've described as being genuinely "creepy".
there ya go trying to insult me. But being Creepy spyin on yer neighbors an all it doesn't surprise me you would try to impugn my intelligence. Do you feel better now?

Again, nothing here is even close to "spying".

From my backyard I have observed certain behaviors. Do you not see anything that your neighbors do? Do you spend 24/7 locked inside your house, never going outside, never looking outside?

Or - and this is the more likely of the two scenarios - are you just an idiot?

Hold up.
There's 15 acres of WOODED land behind your house.
How long is their driveway that you can see them passing bags back and forth between the trees?

Just How GOOD is your eyesight????

Seeing through a single wooded acre s difficult, how can you you see such details?

The driveway runs parallel to my property line (and several of my immediate neighbors) about 50' beyond the line.

Don't you think it might depend on where on those 15 acres the house is located relative to the OP's house?
