Thanks.

I watched a little of Trump's press conference yesterday, and there was one reporter in the audience wearing what I swear was a conical coffee filter mask. I suppose she'd just punched holes in it and added elastic.

Once you cut a tree intended for timber framing (assuming pine?), how long does it need to dry before it can be used?

I'm no expert, but from my research it just depends on several factors: Exposure, thickness, air dry/kiln dry, etc. Also depends on what type of structure you're building. If you're just building a basic shed structure, it won't matter as much as it would if you're building a home or more refined project.

You usually want to saw your lumber fairly soon after cutting the tree. Then stack it a certain way to allow air flow and minimize warping. Cover it with some tin or stack it under a pole barn.

Like PTG said, thickness and type of wood matter. Based on my reading usually 1-2 years for air drying.

My first project is to harvest some dead and dying cedar trees to get 4x4, 6x6 and maybe some 8x8 posts and beams to build some pole barns/sheds. The dead ones are already dry but the wood inside is still good. The live ones I might dry for six months. Appearance won't be a big deal.

I've designed some websites for people. Nothing fancy, just working with some existing WordPress templates and polishing the content they send over. It's enjoyable most of the time but every now and then I end up doing a site for someone who is annoying enough to make me want to take a break from it for a while.

Became HVAC certified from Hinds last year. Best call and already recouped tuition and opportunity costs during that year.

Really look into taking night classes for any trade. It gives you a ton of self satisfaction while working a white collar 8-5.

Tree trimming/cutting. No joke. I know someone who started it on the side and now has a bucket truck and a regret he didn’t quit his old job earlier and started cutting trees sooner.

Also... powder coating. Buy and old oven off Craigslist, a few pieces of powder coating equipment, and a harbor freight media blaster and your set.
