Hawkdave, I hate to break it to you, but you just got played by Coach.
It appears the losses still count more than the wins in the SEC.

SEC trending down. They were good when the cheating was below board, but now everyone can pay players they lost a big advantage!
This is spot on. Their big 'secret payoff system' no longer exists. All they can do now is provide big money bags just like everybody else. Poof, the incentive to go there is gone. And the decline of the conference shows it.
The worst part for them in this landscape is schools like Bama, Auburn and LSU are broke in comparison to the rest of the elites.

OK, a 8-4 Iowa beat a 10-2 Vandy. They lost to Indy by five. The closest any team has played them. Two of our losses was to CFP semifinalist teams. BIG is better than the SEC. Now that the SEC good-ole-boy, back door money is being trumped by BIG conference front door $$ they aren't as good.

"All it was" maybe going a little too far, but certainly it was a big factor. They do have great tradition, great recruiting base, great fan interest and great coaches over the years ... so there is that too ;-)
