Nice writeup by long time local DJ Michele Amabile in Variety:
WTF with all the people getting sick?1. Tried very hard but couldn't get through to get tickets when they went on sale.
2. Shortly thereafter, a friend reaches out and says lets charter a boat. I recalled how there were dozens of boats out there last year and all seemed to be having fun.
3. I plunk down $260 (includes food) for my wife and I to go on the boat.
4. Sunday comes and the wind is blowing from the northeast (bad for sound) and their is a rip current alert. We get on the boat.
5. As soon as the boat leave the Manasquan inlet, people start getting sick. By the time we're anchored in Asbury Park, 20 out of 30 people aren't feeling well.
6. Kool and the Gang is on the stage. At times, the sound is good, at others you can't hear them.
7. We can't hear a sound from the other sand stage.
8. By now about 10 people are throwing up and two are lying down in the cabin unable to stand up.
9. In the middle of Kitty's Back, we decide "OK we saw Bruce" and get out of there.
10. I was in bed at 9:30.
11. This morning I saw the set list and wanted to cry that I missed it.
12. As I type this, I'm still having random but mild dizzy spells.
Other than that, it was great!
It was brilliant!
Interesting tidbit: the 1978 show at Jadwin that Trey mentioned was supposed to be at Rutgers, but Tom Young refused to give up a practice at the RAC so the concert was switched to Princeton.
Heavy doses of motion sickness and libations.WTF with all the people getting sick?
Not for nothing, but if you know you’re gonna ruin everyone else’s day then don’t get on the freaking boat, or at least bring some motion sickness pills with you and don’t drink. I would’ve lost my ******* mind if I were Lou or anyone else not dealing with those issues.Heavy doses of motion sickness and libations.
Check out this set list from one of Bruce's 1978 shows at the Palladium...indoors...3,400 seats...and a 30 year old Boss.Don’t know where he gets the energy. Was there with a buddy that has seen him over 100 times and he said it was one of his best and most memorable performances.
Obviously the venue couldn’t have been topped.
Live from Asbury park!!!
The Darkness tour was THE tour. No other tour comes close. It was Bruce and the band at their finest.Check out this set list from one of Bruce's 1978 shows at the Palladium...indoors...3,400 seats...and a 30 year old Boss.
