OT: Salt Water Taffy

I know we talk a lot about NJ’s superiority when it comes to pizza and bagels, but someone brought in a box of salt water taffy not from NJ and let me tell ya, it’s garbage. Flavors are too fruity and over the top (it should have a grown up, more mild, subtlety to it. This tastes like bubble yum). The texture is way off, it’s almost grainy.

Packaging is ok except that it lacks the extra layer of waxy paper.

Add it to the list.

great little article in this month's AAA mag. Both these now owned by the same company. "early 1880's concessionaire David Bradley left his stand open one night when a storm hit soaking his taffy. The next day a little girl stopped by to buy some taffy and David offered her "Saltwater" taffy. The name stuck even though there is no saltwater used in it".

Shrivers is good too, they still make it right there on the boardwalk too, not sure about the others though.

We brought salt water taffy on a cruise ship meet and greet - you were supposed to bring something representing your state......

Steeles Fudge Atlantic City, NJ has good Salt Water Taffy too. My favorite. Also, Berkeley in Seaside boardwalk. Pick ur own flavors.

Berkeley was pretty good as well, but did they rebuild after the fire? Or did they move to another location on the boardwalk?

Berkelley Fudge did reopen, I believe at the Northern end of,boardwalk near Shore store.
