I've been waiting for an hour to see who would post this, how long it would take to get posted. Only thing left is how long until someone gets panties in a wad and gets locked.

RIP.

Like him or not, the dude basically invented conservative talk radio. Or at least made it relevant.

Liberals keep trying and failing to replicate his success / influence over the airwaves.

I would probably go one step further. Exclude conservative. Talk radio period. Successful and not funded through subsidy

How nice would it be if in the spirit of "reuniting" the country that even people who hated his views and/or him could either keep quiet or acknowledge he was a pivotal force in American culture and wish his family well.

RIP Rush. You were an American icon, loved and hated by hundreds of millions.

I was a kid when I started listening to him. He was a champion of Reagan conservatism and a relentless critic of the Clinton crime family.

Can anyone step up? I don't care for Steyn or Gorka. A guy I thought was going to be a star was Andy Dean. Young, sharp, great humor. But he just about disappeared from the face of the Earth. He left his show and hasn't been visible anywhere.

Rush
Howard
Jim Rome

Are those maybe the 3 most influential radio hosts ever?

Howard pretty much made morning talk show what it is/was, all the jocks started to copy him.

Rome is interesting because I don't think he style is really copied but he is just a giant.

how dare you overlook living legend Mike Francesa, to whom Rome owes his entire career

Just curious... did Howard and Rush have any type of relationship? Wonder what Howard will have to say in retrospect?

Although I am not in agreement with his views, the man was very talented. His voice alone was a powerful unique instrument. I was at a "This American Life" Live Theater event a few years back, and Ira Glass went out of his way to acknowledge how talented Rush was. And how he altered the radio landscape. Even opening possibilities to show like TAL.

Good question, I am not sure. I used to listen to Stern all the time, years ago, I don't recall him ever saying anything about Rush expect something about how Rush made it possible for other radio hosts to start making major cash.

Sterns current politics would make me think he despises Rush. Also the fact that Stern wants to see himself as the GOAT and many would put Rush probably drives Stern nuts. Ive heard him call Limbaugh “ that fat f—k” a few times.
Too bad really. Each talented in their own way.

Yeah, Stern has really changed some of his views. I still think he is one of the best at interviews.

You should have seen when he had Don Rickles on, Stern stood the entire time while Don sat, totally respectul to Don, who Stern loves.

It’s amazing Sterns transformation. I used to watch him on E! Back in high school, and on terrestrial radio and he was hilarious but obnoxious. Now he sounds so tired and old. Not in a bad way. I still enjoy him but he sounds like Larry David now

The E show was so fun to watch! Was it on at 10-11 and then again at 1-2?
