OT: Rush fans have you seen this?

Our recent thread of bands we wished we had seen made me go looking and oh.. my... 17ing... God! If I had been in the audience for this you would have to taken me out on a stretcher after. The fact that it ends with my favorite song of Rush really just fits perfectly.

I just missed being able to see a few years ago here in Austin in a show that was reported by many to be magnificent. One of my buds joked with me that he could have sworn he heard a Millennial that didn't really know the band at all stating afterwards that,"Yeah, Rush was really badass but that chick lead singer was ugly as hell!"

I saw them in Nashville on the Time Machine Tour. No opening act and played for close to 3 hours. Absolutely amazing. Would love for Geddy and Alex to do something together but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon.

Don't you have to put Peart in the discussions of best drummer ever? The guy is so technically amazing....you can't even keep up with his hands, much less his hands AND feet.

Yes but he has always been too "technical" and prog for the rock critics who idolize drummers like Keith Moon. I always found that a poor argument but then again rock critics haven't always been the most intellectual folks, they were just published when the rock magazine was the way to share this information.

Geddy's voice was shot by then, but otherwise it was a great concert. Didn't see it, but I've seen the videos. Saw them a few years earlier in New Orleans and it was great. Was sitting next to a dad who brought his about 12-year old daughter to the concert. She was rocking out.

I think you have to put him at the top of the list. Just amazing. Geddy and Alex were also awesome, but Neil was the best.

You are correct about Peart. Bonham and Moon got all the love from critics but Peart was better than both of them. I've always thought Roger Taylor and Nick Mason don't get their due when talking about greatest drummers. You could probably throw Stewart Copeland in that group as well.

I saw them in Omaha on this tour. Back in my younger years, I saw them on the Presto tour in New Orleans and the Roll the Bones tour in Topeka. I still wish I could have seen them back in the 2112 or Moving Pictures days.
(On each tour, dudes outnumbered girls 10:1. That’s how you know how good it was.)

I am the age where I should have been a big Rush fan but somehow it missed me. I guess I was blocked by all the hairspray from Van Halen and Motley Crue.

I recently discovered how unbelievable they were and I’ll admit I had no idea that Rush was just THREE DUDES. Holy smokes. I also heard they would play for some packed out crowd of like 30,000 fans then go back to their hotel and read books. Amazing.

Lastly, Neal Peart belongs on any list of great drummers. I also nominate Bernard Purdie.

To me they are one of the most talented rock bands ever. Peart and Geddy Lee are both revered for their musical talent and Alex Lifeson is no slouch.

My son Alex graduated from State in April of this year! Yes, he was names after the great Lerxst! I saw RUSH over 100 times and met Geddy and Alex multiple times. Never did meet the great professor Pratt, but he was the best! Talk about a band that’s the story of your life. To me, the greatest ever!!!

Also, Peart was the primary lyricist. That fact often gets overlooked. Copeland is certainly a part of that group; #2 behind Peart IMO.

RUSH is very talented, the most, I love hearing them rock out, but Geddy's voice isn't for me. I do respect and appreciate their talent, and enjoy listening to them jam out.
