Anyone planning to attend the Rugby 7s Series matches in LA in late August? I think I might go.

Btw, the US team is quite competitive in 7s. They just beat South Africa in Singapore.

I am purely a Rugby 15's guy. 7's compared to 15's is like comparing flag football to the NFL. The USA has been very competitive on the 7's circuit with Baker and Irons being two of the fastest players in the competition

The Rugby 7's events are a fun filled weekend. Each team's supporters come appropriately attired with the Kenyans, Fijians, Pacific Islanders creating a festive experience with songs and dances in the stands

It is non-stop action the entire weekend with teams progressing in flights depending on their performance. It is definitely worth going but the only thing resembling real rugby is the ball

7s may get rugby on the map here in the US. The fast pace and frequent scores are much more appealing to US spectators accustomed to football.

FYI - The 2021 USA National Champions for rugby 7’s are my old club team - the Chicago Lions.

Believe that squad includes a NU rugger.

A number of NU rugby alumni have played for the Midwest 7’s team and played in the National 7’s tournament.

I still hold out hope that former NU rugby player Steve Tasker will some day get into the NFL Hall of Fame.
A brilliant move by coach Rich Cortez to convince him to come out for the team.

Tasker would have been awesome at 7s.
