@RUGuitarMan1 - Interesting take by Vernon Reid, for those who don't know is the guitarist in the band Living Colour. He just did a podcast with Billy Corrigan which was fantastic.

As ridiculous as this sounds, anytime a great guitarist dies I can't help but think how unfair it is that they can't pass on some of their talent to mediocre ones like me - or anyone, for that matter. Just through a simple finger touch is my idea :)

Absolutely. I’m a big fan of both Cropper and Gilmour. All very good/great musicians have “big ears” as they say. There are countless examples of similar solos, melody lines, phrasing among guitar players. I got a kick out of the video of Green Onions. In typical ‘60s - early 70s music video footage, during Cropper’s terrific solo the camera focuses on the crowd and then bassist Duck Dunn.

Dunn and Cropper looked so different (duh). Cropper in that Green Onions video looked like a young Hugh Hefner. The crowd was sedate, not screaming like crowds did for The Beatles.

In addition to the music, I loved those crowd shots. Reminded me of the Hootenanny shows of the 60's
