Had no idea:
1. He sang Hang on Sloopy. Thought that was a much older song. See #2.
2. That he was 77. Thought he was younger
3. He wrote Real American for Hulk Hogan.
4. As a teen he formed a band called the McCoys with his brother Randy. In the summer of 1965 the songwriting-production team the Strangeloves — comprised of Richard Gottehrer, Jerry Goldstein and Bob Feldman, who’d scored a major hit with “I Want Candy”

You probably know that I Want Candy was a big hit for the band Bow Wow Wow.

Was a producer for a number of Weird Al albums. But I’ll always remember him for Rock n’ Roll Hoochie Koo and doing Slow Ride with Edgar Winter.

Saw him play with Aerosmith at MSG, in 1976, I think. One of the loudest concerts I ever attended.
It was so loud that my ears seemed to be cutting out. Good but very loud.

Johnny Winter was a very good guitar player. Excellent cover of Derringer's "Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo".

Was a producer for a number of Weird Al albums. But I’ll always remember him for Rock n’ Roll Hoochie Koo and doing Slow Ride with Edgar Winter.

He also played the guitar solo on Weird Al's "Eat It".

This is from the “Johnny Winter and Live” album which featured Winter and Derringer. Recorded live at the old Filmore East in NYC from 1970. A burning rendition of the Rolling Stones “Jumping Jack Flash”. Another interesting tidbit, there is a line from “Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo” that goes “There was a group called The Jokers that were laying it down”. The Jokers were a Florida rock band from the ‘60s which featured future Allman Brothers guitarist Dickey Betts;

Johnny Winter was a very good guitar player. Excellent cover of Derringer's "Rock and Roll Hootchie Koo".

Johnny Winter was an all time great guitar player. Derringer was no slouch. He went toe to toe with Winter on the classic Johnny Winter And album. Also played with Steely Dan and Cyndi Lauper. RIP.
