What was that ride like anyway? A giant parachute drop? Anyone been on it?

It was a roller coaster ride that was the tallest and fastest when it opened in 2005. I've never been on it, but my youngest has rode it a bunch of times over the years.

One of my guys was talking about it today. Said it lasted maybe 4 secs, but what a 4 secs. They took a rollercoaster, shot you straight up that tower and straight back down the other side and around some curves. He said it felt like you were shot out of a cannon.

I remember going on it with the kids not too long after its initial opening.

The real crazy thing about that ride was sometimes the launcher misfired so that the coaster wouldn't clear the elevated peak and return backwards to the loading station.

Free Fall was my favorite back in the day. Simple and fun!

As a kid, always wanted to go on the Sarajevo Bobsled at Great Adventure, but it had a short life and wasn’t for little kids !

That was also apparently weather related too.

I've been on it a bunch of times. Took my 10 year old on it this summer, and he loved it. It lasts about 30 seconds, but it's intense. It's not as scary as you'd think, mostly because it happens so fast. I enjoyed it.

It was broken all the time but what a ride. Friends and I went in early May once - park was empty and the ride was working, we went on like 4 times in row. You cannot believe how fast you are going and it kept getting faster till you hit the upslope. Incredible ride.

And more amazingly it accomplished that launch with "old" tech (which is why it was closed). It had a hydraulic pulley launch system vs. the more modern LSM launch.

Great video:

I thought it worked off of North-North magnets propelling it? Maybe that was the old Batman & Robin chiller ride?

The one rule on those sorts of rides was to keep your head back against the headrest before launch or you are gonna have a sore neck.

I was too tall to properly fit in the seats. I rode it once in 2005 and felt fine. However, always assumed it was a bad idea to tempt fate anymore. LOL!

The GOAT

insane launch that used magnetism like HSR that made you take off like a rocket all the way to the peak, then pause before the tallest near pure vertical drop of any coaster. It took me years until I was lucky enough to get on it since everytime I went to Six Flags it was shut down due to weather or repairs... When I finally went on, I kept going back... 4 times in a row.

Waited in line for 3 hours, only to see it closed for repairs shortly after it officially opened.
Never did get to ride it.

The boys and I did Cedar Point a couple of summers ago, considered the roller coaster capitol of the world. That was a fun 3 days!
