RIP. One of my favorites as well. He was good in the Robin Williams resort movie back in the 80’s as well.

Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff has passed away at age 81:

I first saw him when the movie The Harder They Come hit New York back in the day. Ran out and bought the album.
Lots of great stuff on that album. Solid. One of my favorites. Yes. I still have it...and several others by the man.
BTW, your post about Jimmy Cliff finally gave me a reason to wanna post here....so I finally signed up.

The Harder They Come was one of those albums in constant rotation back when I was a student living at Sigma Pi. One of the best concerts I've ever been to was Jimmy Cliff and Steve Winwood at Pier 84 in NYC back in '86. RIP to one of the greats.

Still part of my Spotify play list. We ran it constantly in Newell sophomore year and then over to Union Street. My memory is getting foggier these days so could be wrong
.....especially with all the bingers back then..... but recalled going to the Barn to see him while at RU.

Many Rivers To Cross, The Harder They Come, and You Can Get It If You Really Want are all classics.
He was no Bob Marley...but who is ? But he was up there on the next level....right behind Gregory Isaacs and Peter Tosh.
And probably Dennis Brown.
BTW, One can not avoid being moved listening to Many Rivers To Cross.
