I remember buying Fruit Stripe Gum for 5 cents a pack.
I was pissed when taxes kicked in and it rose to 6 cents.
Pixy Stix were also 5 cents

I was a never big gum chewer and that's probably because I remember as a kid chewing this and it felt like you had putty in your mouth after 5 seconds. LOL.

I don't even remember this gum. I do remember Freshen Up and Bubble Yum - you know, the ones with the spider eggs in them...

You couldn’t chew it after eating chocolate, it would disintegrate in your mouth.
We would roll them up and don’t remember them tasting anything but delicious

The problem was that you kept having to add another stick to the gum in your mouth to supplement the flavor. After about 10 minutes, you had stuffed the whole pack into your mouth and were chewing 17 sticks of gum at once. That being said, I am now on a quest to go purchase as much as I can find. Candy is one of the greatest prompts for childhood nostalgia. I got my mom a vending case of Chuckles (the 5 Chuckles pack) for Christmas. She was beyond excited and said that it made her feel like a kid again. I apparently have been overspending and buying the wrong things for decades. LOL.

Outside of the more hoity-toity areas in Singapore the sidewalks near bus stops look a bit like sidewalks everywhere… dirty wads of gum peppering them (albeit fewer wads since you can’t rally buy gum there). So like most bans it doesn’t completely work.

The candy store in Cape May had picks of candy cigarettes.
