Was talking to a long time friend from Bloomfield yesterday, Kenny ( a Nova grad). Great athlete - and his brother Johnny (G-town grad) was the NJ Athlete of the year in 1968.

We used to play b-ball in his back yard @ night : he lived 2 houses from Connie Francis.

Musta talked for about 1 1/2 hours yesterday ranging from Global Warming to what is Suzie S. was doing these days? Memories.

Anyway Kenny now lives in PA...and said he was going to watch our game. I asked him about Nova since I only follow Rutgers: period. He said they were on a 3 game losing steak. I told him that's not a streak...it's a pimple....infinitesimal : RU has been on a gargantuan losing streak for 15 years (last time we had a winning record) and 29 years since the last time we did the Cha Cha, Box step or Mosh Pit.

He dropped me a nice text after our "W".

This morning I read an article about RHJ and Kobe. As a 6 year old RHJ met Kobe who was a family friend and either his de facto Uncle or Godfather. Kobe's advice to Harper Jr was: "Don't pass the ball. I'll teach that to you when you're older".

Switch to Kenny and Johnny back in the late 60's. We used to play all sports ...but in basketball we played a few pick up games at Bloomfield College and at 5'9" I was the tallest, the center~. Kenny laughed when I sent him the article on Harper Jr and not passing the ball...stating I was the original black hole:" when we passed the ball to you ...it never came out"!

Kobe and I shared the same philosophy... and the same birthday August 23rd. He was just taller more athletic and slightly better than I was...but he stole my strategy on the court:
There is no D, Assist or Rebound as entertaining, in your face or as much fun as stopping & popping while hearing the sweet sound of a "SWISH"!

PS I had sent an article the other to Kenny / he forwarded to his brother Johnny regarding a close friend and teammate at Bloomfield High: Ted Jasieniecki. Ted was a 6'3" forward or swing and he went on to play several years at Rutgers in the 70's. A 31st memorial service game was played the other day in Ted's honor.

I checked the media guide. Ted averaged 2.7 ppg for RU in 68-69 and 9.3 ppg in 69-70.

Makes sense...Johnny started at G-town in Sept. 1968- but didn't play any sports- nor did Kenny.

But we were hellacious in those 3 on 3 games...

Never met a shot I didn't like!

I had no conscience: NONE!
