Just got Anderson 400 series. Not installed yet. Was part of larger project, not sure of exact itemized price, depends on size, etc.Need to replace all windows in an old house.
Any recomendations and price per window would be appreciated.

When was that? Did you use Renewal by Anderson?I replaced my entire house with Andersen. They are very expensive, so we had to do our 35ish windows in 3 installments. I think, in total, they ran us about $40k.
Yes we did. We did it over (I think) a 4 year period. I think we did about 11-12 windows each in 2015, 2016, and 2018. Keep in mind that different sizes and types of windows have different prices. If you have any bay windows, they're super pricey, for example.When was that? Did you use Renewal by Anderson?
Don't use renewal by Andersen.When was that? Did you use Renewal by Anderson?
So Anderson windows are just fine if you buy them new and have our contractor install? Our house has 80's, like 1980 windows. We figured we'd have to go new anyway. I like Anderson but heard bad things this could be the Renewal Line like you mentioned though. Did you use Anderson?Don't use renewal by Andersen.
Use Andersen windows, but not the Renewal line. Find a carpenter/craftsman who does renovations.
Don't buy windows from Home Depot or Lowes.
Years of several renovations and building 2 new houses taught us this.
We've had no problem with Lowe's windows.Don't use renewal by Andersen.

I know masonry but this crap is foreign to me.
May depend on brand and who does installation. Would never have Home Depot or Lowes do installation, as the contractor assigned to your job is basically a pot luck choice. Would rather find our own contractor, check references, etc.We've had no problem with Lowe's windows.
I think I like the idea of wood on the inside like you suggested. That way you can chose your color. O and that was quick. Thank You, for the number. I will probably be asking you these same questions in about a year.Here is a good starting point for Renewal by Andersen. And it gets complicated and mind boggling.

I am leery of their Fibrex material (which goes into the Renewal by Andersen product). Fibrex is some sort of composite of wood and plastics. Andersen also uses Fibrex in their builder grade window Andersen 100 line.
Andersen has several lines of windows. The Andersen 100 will be Fibrex on the inside and outside.
We prefer the insides of the windows to be wood so that we can stain or paint them to whatever color we want. For some jobs and people, that is not so important.
As the article says, and as one poster above noted, Renewal by Andersen will run about $1,000/window installed. That is steep.
I have your number. I will text you the number of a contractor in Farmingdale who did our windows on the house you worked on-- the chimney looks great, and no more issues with the rain.

Wow, I need this thread. In the process of replacing very large Bay Window and two double hungs. Renewal prices were out of this world and IMO the regular Anderson Woodrite inside windows looked nicer. I also priced out the Pella 850 from Lowes. Why don't you recommend to go that route? The room I am putting them in has rough hewn cedar paneling so i would need to stain the wood one way or another.Don't use renewal by Andersen.

@koleszar can message you with the information, and he is free to give you my name and e-mail if you want to discuss offline. This contractor has done several projects for us, and we have always been pleased with his work.Will you send me your contractor too please?
I have always done better on pricing having my contractor go to the local lumber yard (we have a Jaeger Lumber, which is a chain). I may be mistaken, but like plumbing fixtures such as faucets, I was always told the quality is better at the local supply house than at the big box stores I know this for a fact for products such as deck stain.Wow, I need this thread. Are people replacing windows for the look or because it give you better insulation?
I bought a house which was originally built in the 1700's and added on to in the 1800's and then again in 1960. So the windows are really old. So for me it's both plus function.
What type of window? Vinyl frame or aluminum.

Considering their aluminum frame. Are you happy with them? How long have you had them? Any warranty issues, and did they address them promptly?
Did you consider other products, and why did you go with MI?
Thanks.
I am impressed you quoted U-Factor, SHGC and VT--most people don't have a clue about that stuff. Thank you. The U-Factor and SHGC numbers are impressive.I have the 1650 vinyl triple pane (Triple pane a bit more efficient)
Been in for three years now
Not one issue with them and no warranty claims
Open and close and tilt in easily
Went with MI based on price and Dean's recommendation at Time's Siding of very few issues and claims
]
Great Energy Performance Ratings on the triple pane:
U-Factor = 0.22
SHGC= 0.23
VT= 0.37
Had the Renewal by Anderson guy in.
