In that thread I said going out to eat crawfish. Tonight was the night. All you can eat crawfish and a bunch of beers. I won’t say it was worth the wait because I’d rather I didn’t have to wait almost 3 months. I will say it was worth being my first trip.

Speaking of trips. What's everybody's comfort level for staying in hotels/motels etc these days ?

Probably pretty good, since they cleaned and then cleaned again before reopening. Might think twice about having maid service if you're there multiple nights.

Not sure it's safe yet. I'm going to give it a while longer before sitting in a restaurant. Confirmed cases have gone up since places have reopened.

Honestly I haven’t been comfortable with hotels and motels for years. That’s why I own an RV. Haven’t spent more than a dozen nights in a bed that I didn’t own in the last 8-10 years. But I’d probably go to Vegas with Karl as long as he sprang for a 5 star.

This is the topic the board needs. What kind do you have? What maintenance problems have you had to deal with? How often do you use it? I want one, but don’t have the $ or space to store it. Future plans... maybe a sailboat, too.

Went to the beach memorial day weekend and stayed in a condo. Gonna do it again in middle of July.

Not necessarily covid related but I cleaned hotel carpets for two summers in college. Some decent-ish places. I'll never walk barefoot in a hotel room again.

Taking my parents to Dauphin Island in late July. Really looking forward to some low key beach time.

Tiffin Motor home , it’s our fourth RV. I never wanted a RV, used to make fun of my neighbor who would go camping at the campground 8 miles from home. I never understood it til I tried it, you relax in a RV even if it’s just a few miles from home. Maintenance is considerably more than a house, best description that I have heard is that your home suffers an earthquake every time you use it. An RV is definitely a depreciating asset. The only good investment associated with a RV is the investment in your family and your own sanity. We use it often, we tailgate for football and baseball, we purchased a lot near the beach and leave it there all summer. We travel back and forth using it just as we would a condo. If we want a condo in the mountains, we have one. Lake, just a drive away. At the end of our working lives we will probably Sell out and RV full time for a year or more and see where we really want to live the rest of our lives. It might be here but I doubt it.

I order a sack last weekend from Louisiana Crawfish Co and they came over night. They were awesome, boiled them up and had leftovers to peel and freeze.

Go buy a sack and do it yourself.

Not only are they RVs but they’ve also kicked for Alabama.

Edit to add: My parents had RVs and used to tailgate at games back in the 70s and 80s.

Shoot, I've been traveling the entire time, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Boston, Providence, and a few more.

Flights were empty but pretty darn packed, like almost every seat last few...and that was a couple weeks ago, mostly because there are so few options.

Only issue was in Boston, I had to have "essential worker" paperwork to check-in.

So I wrote myself a note, since I own the business...

I know newer building materials, especially PEX, has helped a lot with maintenance issues in the last few years.
A friend of mine just started living in a travel trailer full time. Loves it. Stays in a new place for about a week-month at a time, and then goes to check out a new destination.

I previously mentioned my folks had an RV when I was younger. I don’t think I’d be all that comfortable driving an RV and staying in one. I never really have understood its appeal and then there’s maintenance...

I’m much more comfortable in hotels and motels. Staying in them now though would mess with my OCD though...

I’m not just a huge MLB fan, but if they can somehow manage to get their stuff together, a trip to St Louis for a couple ball games is high on the list.

When you’ve been locked down for as long as we have, there’s not much that sets you free and screams American like a trip to the ballpark with a hot dog and beer

My wife and I haven't been anywhere this year so far with all the virus stuff going on along with building a house. We're going to try to be moved in sometime in July, so hopefully in October or November we're planning on going out to OKC to visit the Murrah Federal building memorial and on to Amarillo to visit Palo Duro State Park. Not sure if we will drive or fly at this point, but by that time we'll be ready for a getaway.

My job requires and it and I am in hotels probably 60 nights a year and am typing from one at the moment.

They are clean as I have ever seen them, but even though we aren’t typically in the Ritz, we aren’t in a Ramada either. I think we will discover that your odds of catching the Rona from just being in a hotel room is probably minuscule compared to the other ways of being exposed.

Since my job is in the airline industry, it is physically impossible to socially distance much of the time. I also cannot wear a mask when actually performing my duties. My coworkers and I are on airplanes (many times in the back among the passengers) for an average of 10 hours a day. Throw in some hotel vans and employee shuttles and you have what should be the most exposed demographic out there.

You would think that those doing my job (and coworkers) would be catching the virus at a much higher rate right? Hotels? Airplanes? Hotel shuttles? Limited mask use? Nope.

So do I stop personal travel over worry of catching it? No.

Considering that most rooms have been empty for months, I’m probably more comfortable now than I would be if things were full speed.

ill most likely have my first hotel stay in months next week. A colleague of mine who was traveling during lockdown, said the hotel, just left rooms empty for a week before they cleaned them. Plenty of time for virus to die.

Crawfish: The definition of overrated and inefficient. Don't at me.

I can get to the business end of a crawfish way faster than I can peel a shrimp.

Baked potato will always be the least efficient food. Takes forever to make and forever to dress. Payoff is worth it, though.

But if you're getting decent sized shrimp for boiling, you need at least two if not three crawfish tails to get the same amount of food. I love them both, but I get full off of eating shrimp. Crawfish I typically get tired of peeling before I get full. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. Lots of good flavor for a long time while hanging out with people. Just means crawfish is a social occasion or a diversion (like something to do while watching baseball, you know, if it existed). Whereas shrimp is an eating occasion.

Yea, a tow vehicle is a must. Used to tow a 2012 2dr Wrangler but recently traded for a 2020 Gladiator. We have taken the Harley on a trailer in the past but the Mrs isn't too thrilled shopping on the bike.

Not a RV'r er and Never heard of Tiffin. Did a quick google search and first one that came up was a 2020 TIFFIN ALLEGRO BUS for $455,000. Almost Died!

Google a Tiffin Zephyr and when your heart starts beating again, search Newell Motorcoaches. That's how the other half travel.

If you are peeling crawfish you are doing it wrong.

I can eat crawfish as fast as anyone. I still stand by my opinion. Blue crabs are a close 2nd.
