so franklin says "We are playing for one goal, one university & only one name that truly matters, Penn State," said coach James Franklin.

What a dumb statement, does that mean every other school that has names on back is playing for themselves? Was PSU playing for themselves for the last 3 years?

Tool- I'd love to be a fly onthe wall during one of his recruiting visits, just to hear the garbage he spews to potential players.

I wish he hadn't done this, their uniforms without names, as stupid as it is, was a big selling point with recruits who liked "tradition"... I'll never understand why tradition with psu and Michigan is more appealing than playing in the shadows of NYC but that's a different topic

I'm guessing the kicker recruit...the guy with the announcement video where he gets off a private jet...won't like the idea of no names on the back.

No names is far superior, however to 'F.A.M.I.L.Y'

This wasn't Franklin's decision. Four Diamonds cut their funding to the football uniform fund.

Just imagine if your HC had any sense of salesmanship. Man has Jimmy Franklin rustled you guys.

BS comes naturally for some, Jimmy is a good example of that and if that floats your boat, good for you [banana].
Penn St got themselves a HC that's a good salesman .One that will do anything it takes to get ahead.

Rutgers is stuck with a HC that values truth and tries not to BS the public or the recruits he goes after.
That puts RU behind in the salesmanship catogary , because of its HC putting his moral values ahead of the win at any cost strategy Penn St has used for years.

Well, tell Mikershoein Jr to hit the weights and the track and maybe CJF will offer

Hey KJB, since you think Jimmy Franklin is the second coming of Gordon Gekko, are you going to change your image since I
can read the name on back of Hodges Jersey?

I'll let you in on a little secret. All D1 coaches are FOS. I've blasted Obrien for it but no one has a problem with him on here. Whatever fits the narrative I suppose.

Franklin is a little sales to me and it swings both ways with parents and recruits too. Just ask Gary.

Well, he is definitely more GG thank Lombardi, that's for sure. Dude can sell though, no doubt. Now he needs to win or the act will grow old.

I got 3 boys already started, at age 4 they have to practice snapping the nerf football into the mailbox, every school needs a long snapper

Actually Penn St is returning to the unis it had during the years it won at any cost.
BOB tried to move away from that when Penn St had sanctions placed upon them and if Mikershoein Jr hit the Penn St weight room back when BOB was the Nit's HC, steroids would be out of weight lifting regime .
Before BOB and now with Franklin the HC, think Mikershoein Jr might have access to someone that supplies them that Penn St can deny knowledge of, but a regular on the Penn St campus.

Under Paterno wasn't having no names on jerseys the norm at PSU? Why is this an issue on this board?

Yet chopping wood or F.A.M.I.L.Y. On the back of jerseys are totally inspirational. Does that mean every other school who doesn't chop would doesn't work through adversity or no other team has a family like atmosphere.

Not that anyone cares, but this is a brilliant move by Franklin. A lot of the old heads got up in arms about names being on the jerseys. I thought it was a great move by O'Brien to honor those who stuck it out but many didn't feel that way. To boot, the people who didn't like it still ***** about it. This helps Franklin win some points with the old heads (many of which are staunch Paterno supporters) and also probably helps him get a few extra shekels out of them.

I really couldn't care less either way.

This also gets Penn State some pub during a slow sports time and the information was released a day prior to one of the two biggest recruiting days of the year for PSU as that Lasch Bash is this weekend.

Just a matter of time until he announces that we will go Nike alternate unis for one game a year. You may not like the dude but he is crafty as hell.

Rutgers never gave Jersey a reason to pay attention back in the 1950s, 60s, 70s and 80s. We are climbing Mt Everest now. Schiano gave New Jersey a taste in '06 but couldn't quite follow through.

We're in the B1G and getting our heads kicked in by anyone who matters (and the last year in the AAC for a matter of fact). Before I die, someone is going to make us the NY Yankees of college football. We got the conference. We got the in state talent. We got the media market. We just need to wait for the money.

This board talks about Penn State in the offseason more than BWI does.

Haha true dat. Then again, a lot of the McAndrew-bots are still complaining about JoePa and how Sandusky was railroaded.

BTW I couldn't give a **** what's on the back of the unis.

Creep State.....(Please stop bringing up this scumbag place!)

Creepy Franklin fits right in at Creepy Valley. He's another poster boy for creepiness.

Here are his 2012 quoted views on hiring assistant coaches:

"I've been saying it for a long time, I will not hire an assistant coach until I've seen his wife," Franklin said in the interview. "If she looks the part, and she's a D-1 recruit, then you got a chance to get hired. That's part of the deal."

WTF

Forgetting everything except football, this was a move that has Penn St fans thinking about past Nit successes and how these uniforms are part of the Penn St's tradition. (Football tradition! Nothing else implied)
Think it was a good move for Penn St.

If nothing else, you're consistent. Just so I know, is it Creep State or Creepy State? I believe I've seen both.

It is the same way others don't understand the obsession with NYC. Is a great city to visit? I think so. What does it have that other city and college towns don't have that a college football player has time or could afford. Do you think they can into the city and buy $15 drinks all night or catch Broadway shows. They are not going to have the times or desire to take in the museums or other culture events. Sure it the media capital of the world but to players ESPN is the capital. Weather you play in NYC or small town Midwest if you make plays your going to get exposure. They don't care about the New York Times or other media outlets.
