I'm so sorry for your family going through this. No great words. As shallow as this sounds, there have been times I've just had to trust God when I was at the end of my rope.
God's peace and strength to all, my friend.

Update: had a CT scan this morning. Brain damage is worse not better. We have a do not resuscitate order in. The docs do not think she will make it. Probably have a conversation about withdrawing life support today. We are trying to let her take her own course.

She is at the university of Iowa children’s hospital. I work here and my wife used to work here.

Hug your kids. Tell them you love them. I just want that one more time and know she hears me.

That’s not fair damn it. Not fair at all.

I’m....so sorry 93. As I just said it’s not fair. At. All. Hardest decision I’ve ever had to make was to pull the plug on Mom. Luckily she made it easier by having a living will and told me flat out to not leave her like that. It still wasn’t easy. That was hard to do to my last parent.

I can’t imagine, nor want to, the horror of having to make that decision for a child, much less if it were mine own.

I hate this for you. With all my heart. I’ve been thinking all day about your daughter and family. I’m so sorry it’s come to this.

Words of mine will feel so empty. But please know they are sincere.

I can’t hug you as much as I want to, but this will just have to do:

I’m sorry 93. May the Father’s love and mercy find its way through the dark to find you.

Your BBN family is here for you if you need us.

Having had 3 strokes(brain bleeds) 1 heart attack, Plus masses in lungs, thyroid and throat and not only cured but at 68 years old just skied down the wall run at Kirkwood. My God is a healing God, it Just requires faith. I believe God is no respecter of persons. So I believe with anyone who has Faith that God can and will bring this precious little girl a full and normal life. That is what he has done for me. I died once brought me back, he healed me and sat my feet on solid ground. They said I would never talk again, now I pastor a church, preach every Sunday. Said I would never walk again, now I ski down double black diamond ski runs. Said cancer would kill me and 2 months, now no CT scan can find any evidence of it. God is good and I believe the GOOD NEWS for your daughter. Be healed in Jesus name!!!!!!

She has made it thru the night and is on a ventilator and full tilt on meds etc. The bleed in her brain was really bad and will have caused a lot of damage if she pulls out of this.

Your thoughts and prayers are truly appreciated.
Late to the thread but, prayer sent non the less. May God keep you and your family in his loving arms and protect your daughter during this difficult time.

Made me shed a tear, life is so unfair. Those types of incidents are so disturbing and the main reason I do not believe in a higher power as much as I used to. Why does a 14 year old child need to lose her life ? Hope a miracle happens and she is reunited with her family

We’re all still praying for you
With your permission I would like to add her, and you all, to our prayer list at church. If you are comfortable giving us her first name...and I understand if you are not...I willl make the request using her name. Otherwise I’ll just say the daughter of a friend.

After seeing the initial reason for the request, I've avoided this thread on purpose as I have three kids (6, 8, 13), and just the thought of losing one is the biggest fear of my life. Hearing others go through it makes me want to avoid the discussion just so I don't have the fear become higher in my head than it already is.

But, glad to hear the improvement news. As hard as it was to get to that point in the thread (fearing the bad news announcement), finding your post a few minutes ago made me glad I decided to read.

Good luck and thoughts are with you. Keep faith in her internal ability to fight, and know that the docs and nurses that are trying to pull her through are doing everything they can - especially if they know you and your family (given you say you work there).

Thanks BKO. Her name is Sarah.

I also wanted to mention that I have a brother making a 500 mile drive today. Maybe a side request that he stays safe. The rest of my immediate family is here. My mil lives in Flatwoods and is in poor health, unable to travel.

A little it of improvement overnight. Some vital signs are a little more stable. Her ventilator was changed and she is tolerating the new one better, plus it is quieter. Her old vent sounded like the Africa Queen in the old Humphrey Bogart movie by the same name.
So very glad to hear of some improvement. I pray she will continue to improve and recover. And I pray your brother arrives safely.

Others have said it, but if you or your family need anything. Reach out to us.

93, thoughts and prayers are with you. This forum is for all of us to post our thoughts on UK sports and we sometimes disagree and get upset, but you should know that your daughter has 100% of the support, prayers and thoughts of this entire board. We are pulling for her and thinking of you as you go through this ordeal. Hang in there and remember you have a whole BBN behind you.

Continuing to pray for you my man, and your daughter. Please let me know if you need anything at all. We are here for you best we can be. My wife put you on her prayer list as well; as did my mother-in-law. My kids are praying for you at dinner and bedtime.

Oh and regardless of the outcome (which I’m confident will be good), if you’re ever in Denver area during the b-ball or fball season and need a place to watch the game, I can provide. Owners of my wife's company are also UK grads and fans (and Kentuckian born and raised), and we sometimes have game shindigs.

Yeah I can appreciate that CRO, we all have struggle with those questions from time to time. My answer has always been that our heavenly father has much bigger plans for us all than what we experience in this short life on earth and our real home is meant to be with him in a better place. But we're human and this life is all we know and its hard for us to have his heavenly perspective. So it's still a tragedy when we lose folks we love here and especially when its earlier than it should be. So like you we are all praying hard for a recovery for Sarah and for Gods arm around the shoulder of her and her family through it all.

Update: Showing improvement with her body (heart/lungs). Brain is still uncertain but we are getting an MRI right now and have discontinued some drugs that have her paralyzed. One of her docs says she believes she will overcome this.

Keep praying. I believe it is working.

That’s great to hear. Been praying constantly for hours.

We have air fix to Denver in August (planning a family vacation). Not sure how or if that will change.

Haven’t stopped in two days. I’ve wrote her name to a prayer request with my church also man. God won’t have a choice this time!

Congratulations on the great news.

Great to hear ukgrad93 that she is doing better. The power of prayer and the mind is amazing. Lets all pray and think this into reality, that she will recover.

I will continue to pray and send healing vibes. Plz keep the updates coming.
