Very true. Have one with and one without. Chlorine sucks comparatively.

Apparently they aren't super expensive to change either.

I just made the change to saltwater this year. Total cost was under $1000 with everything (generator, cell, salt and some pvc parts I needed). I did the electrical and "plumbing" work myself. My pool is just under 22500 gallons and I believe the generator can handle up to 30000 - if you have a pool up over 30000 gallons the cost doesn't increase much. I don't anticipate much cost savings over chemicals but the convenience factor has been huge.

The water feels better, the chlorine sits at a nice steady level and it has been very easy to maintain my pool chemistry where I want it. The only minor pain was tweaking the output over the first few days to get my chlorine level where it needs to be. Well that and the wasps nests I accidently found while doing the install. I had to add somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 pounds of salt. It took me forever to steal enough packets from McDonalds for that.

On topic - we are mostly doing something similar to RU4Real. We scoop and push towards the main drain, manually vacuuming every 10 days or so.
