Any other nerds like me running around catching imaginary pocket monsters? What does everyone think about the app so far? The only think I have noticed is there are not a lot of stations or variety of pokemon where i live compared to other cities.

Kept crashing on me every time I tried to use it, and there was never anything near me. Deleted. It'll fade pretty quickly.

I DLed to see what the hype was about. Not impressed. And I'm a video game junkie. I live on the outskirts of town an there isn't a station anywhere close to me. On top of that there were only a couple lame pets in my neighborhood. My 5 year old likes it, so we might go geocaching this weekend and see if we can catch some while we are at it. TBH, I never really got into the Japanese stuff. DBZ and Pokemon never really interested me. Though I did lose several years of my life playing FF5, FF6, and FF7.

AND WHAT FREAKING BATTERY DRAIN!!! I've never seen an app eat a battery like this. That even with battery saver turned on.

The battery drain was another thing I thought about bringing up. Hopefully they will fix the bugs and battery issue soon. My Pokemon Go app actually just updated. There is potential to be really fun, just have to hope they capitalize on it.

Same here. I play a wide range of games but I've never had an urge to play any of the Pokemon stuff. Maybe it's a generational thing.

Best game ever, or at least in the discussion. I will buy a PS4 when the remake is released. I just hope they don't mess with the game mechanics too much. A graphics update with only slight tweaks to dialogue and a few new Easter eggs and items would be incredible.

I have been enjoying it.

Neat game. Lots of nostalgia factor. Has been getting me and many of my friends up and off our butts. If you are a nerd in your 20s to early 30s, you probably love it.

Unfortunately, lots of stupids are going to make bad decisions - causing accidents or walking into traffic, trespassing, etc. Multiple people have already been mugged playing at night in less than ideal neighborhoods.

I'm of the Atari generation. Only game on my phone is Trails Frontier. It is enough of an addiction as it is.

My favorite is a FF offspring. I love Kingdom Hearts. I can't wait for the new one to come out because my daughter will be 6 at that point.

My claim to fame was beating Kingdom Hearts in one sitting. About 33 hrs.

Only game on my phone is WWF.
Not Rasslin' but Words With Friends. I'm currently replaying GOW3 for the hell of it. I like a wide variety of games myself. Red Dead Redemption remains the best game I have ever played. The only truly Japanese game I got into was Soul Edge on PS1, I remained a huge fan after it became the Soul Calibur Franchise.

Besides all night marathon tourney parties of Tiger, Madden and NCAA. That is the one of two games I played until the sun came up, the other is Arkham Knight, and I kept playing KH for another four hours. Thanks X-Play recommendation.

Picked it up on Steam

during their Summer Sale last year and logged almost as many hours. I'm really looking forward to the HD remake.

2 days ago a few kids that are part of a group I help mentor were talking about pokemon and complaining that there was nothing in rural Iowa where we were at the time. I had no 17ing idea what they were talking about. Now that I have a little 17ing idea what they are talking about, I have no 17ing desire to know more.

Warning in today's news ..

Teens are using the Pokémon Go app to lure robbery victims according to the police. Be careful out there!

Push this for more on the story.

I downloaded the app mostly to see if my workplace might be affected with Pokemon Go players. Fortunately the Pokestops and the Gym are not in my building...

Nothing wrong with having fun.

Adults can play games too. Big time nostalgia from my youth. Plus, I've actually been getting some exercize for once, and meeting new people in my neighborhood.

You played a video game for 33 hours straight? Damn

I don't think I've ever done anything for 33 hours straight.

I have drank beer for 24 hours straight, but most of it was light beer and I paced myself.

So I missed the original craze by a few years. School me on the appeal of the original game because I never took the time to learn it and understand the demand. It was a bunch of cardboard cutout pieces and you battled others to try and win their cardboard pieces, right? How did one win the battles and how big a deal was it to lose pieces?

It was a video game on the original Gameboy that spawned into a cartoon and card game and everything else you see today.

The new app is lame to me. It's basically a modern version of the old game except you have to physically move to where the pokemon spawn and "catch" them. It uses the GPS on your phone. And you have physically move to battle arena/gyms to train/fight. I'll never admit to being "too old to play video games", but I do feel like this one has passed me by. I really don't get it, and even watching Twitch streams of people playing it bores me. I don't get it.

As we speak...

...My apartment has been besieged by these people running up and down the street hunting for Pokemon.

Walked outside the office on the way home and watched about 30 adults walk aimlessly with their phones in their face. It was like a real life walking dead.
