Mizuno is releasing the new JPX923 line in September. Think I’m going to try them out. i bought PXG 0211 clubs during the pandemic but not loving it,
Where did you see this? I asked the Mizuno rep a few weeks ago and he said late fall. I am definitely getting fitted for the 923’s. I hope they look like the 223’s.

So you have no clue what's next do you? Yet you are arguing that the PGA players are playing for the trophy?? Yes the players are money hungry. It was all about the paycheck today. No one cares about the FedEx trophy. There is no long history with it.
FedEx Trophy = LOL

Was this weeks tournament not an exhibition as well? The leaders started with handicap strokes. Sounds like an exhibition to me. Sheffler wouldn’t even have been in contention without the extra shots.
Seriously? Lots of great golf where winning actually means something, as opposed to a bunch of guys who have already booked a contract are playing for grins. My weekend wolf game has more on the theoretical line than the LIV exhibitions.

LIV is a joke. The players are just playing out their contracts. Whether they win or lose means nothing; they still get paid. what’s the incentive to win, other than to offset your guaranteed contract? Plus, Norman is jerk who thinks because he won two majors somehow he is the god of golf. i Am still happy that he choked away the Masters to El Foldo. The whole LIV tour survives because of unlimited Saudi cash, but other than stealing massive oil money, what’s the point? Do you think DJ or Smith actually give a **** whether they win Now.

let me ask. Name a sport where massive guaranteed contracts actually improved performance?

Man, so angry. I am a golf fan and will watch both tours. I also watch the DP and LPGA. Nothing wrong with trying something new. I was never a Norman fan and would prefer LIV didn't exist, but the dude was #1 for 331 weeks. However for people to be fan boys of the PGA Tour is just stupid. Even the players have issues with the tour.

Many years ago I heard Jan Stephenson say the average male golfer can learn more about playing a course from watching them than guys on the tour. Agree? From playing a couple courses they played, all I ever learned is how good they are and how much I stink.😀

Totally agree with that. My wife and I used to volunteer at the LPGA events at Upper Montclair. I get way more out of watching the women since they hit similar distances to me. The guys are just on a different level. I think I heard yesterday Speith had 180 to the green and Ian Baker Finch says easy 9 iron. That just about 40 years more than my easy 9. 😀

I think someone already mentioned but TV needs a LIV vs PGA style Ryder Cup:

LIV - DJ, DeChambeau, C Smith, Koepka, Garcia, Leishmann, Neimann, Mickelson, Reed, NA, Kokrak, Ancer

PGA - Scheffler, McIlroy, Thomas, Cantlay, Schauffle, Rahm, Morikowa, Zalatoris, Fitzpatrick, Hovland, Burns, Speith

Although he missed the cut this week, Gotterup has a decent chance to get card going into 3rd KFT Finals event. Looks like he's T27 after the 2nd event, needs to be in top 25.

Not sure what he needs to finish this week but I'm going to guess something like a top 20 finish would do it.

Tringale makes it official to LIV. I assume the other names rumored like Cam Smith and Leishmann will be announcing soon. Looks like Cameron Young flirted with LIV but decided to stay with PGA and there is another report that Matsuyama has decided to stay with the PGA as well.

Matsuyama a big prize. If I'm LIV I don't close that door.

I expect to see more LIV signings now that the PGA tour season is over.
Those afraid to lose their cards will now take the bucks and gamble on the LIV and PGA working out a deal before the next PGA season starts

Even if the fighting continues:
With the backing of Saudi Arabia the LIV is in great shape financialy to make it a financly smart move to sign up and become financially secure even if the player who joins dosen't win LIV events. .

Maybe but is seems like most of the top guys are pledging loyalty to the PGA Tour. Rahm might be one to watch as he seems a bit put off by the confusion surrounding the changes that came out of the meeting last week. He's not a top guy anymore, but I am somewhat surprised Adam Scott hasn't jumped. Maybe now that fellow Aussies Smith and Leishman have jumped, he's next?

The only other split I can think of like this in top tier American sports in modern history was the CART/IRL split in open wheel racing which took the sport from the most popular form of auto racing in the country and top 5 sports in the country by viewership to a complete afterthought.

Best guess is both tours significantly weaken the sport long term. Infighting and incomplete fields will turn people off to the sport, especially the casual viewer. Once that happens the Saudis will find a new pet project and funding dries up, but only after the damage has been done. At the end of the day, the majors are all that matter.

I'm looking at the middle to lower end of the pack, believe most of the top will stay loyal.
When money is being thrown around and the LIV is buying players for big bucks the middle of pack and lower types will take the LIV money and run more than the PGA's top earners

Yeah probably. They are adding Smith but then rest of the group of 7 bolting aren't what you would consider that top tier.

Still way better golfers than me, LOL. But if LIV wants me to muck up their tournaments for like $500K, I can do that.

Never say never but that would be quite a reversal for Rahm based on earlier comments. https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/20...anation-why-he-prefers-pga-tour-over-liv-golf

I think the PGA Tour has caused enough confusion with the new tournaments that most of the top players will stay for now. I do think the non-US players are not as loyal and could make the jump (ex. Cam, Rahm and Hideki). Rahm being married to an American probably keeps him loyal but the top of the house probably need to smooth things over with him because he didn't look happy at that press conference.

I see some on twitter wondering why no Cam Smith announcement. But seems to me Cam is the type to make any big announcement................ he'll just show up in Boston in the next day or two and just play.

Rahm has some loyalty to the DP Tour too so he could also view this as the PGA Tour again squeezing the crap out of the DP Tour.

that’s a bad deal. He is the biggest get for LIV so far. Should’ve been more than DJ or Mickelson. Everyone else that signed were underwhelming. Whiffed on Young and Hediki.

I saw one report saying it was closer to $140 million.
As and when contractual details surface on these LIV deals I would bet we will see signiifcant variation in sort of top line numbers and how each arrangement actually works. Smith (or his reps) was probably smart enough to hear the leaks and drive a harder bargain, but some of these other guys might get po'd when they realize they could've pushed for more.

Does evey PGA Tour event have every player playing every week?? Kinda of a stupid statement or a poorly thought out joke.
Not really if you’ve been paying attention to LIV. They are required to play all events.

“As previously reported, every player under contract with LIV is expected to participate in every event on the schedule. There are eight LIV events scheduled for this season, while 2023 will feature 10 events. In 2024, and each subsequent season, LIV plans to stage 14 tournaments.”
