and these same sponsors continue to partner with other golfers…who looked the other way when it came to Saudis in February.

That was true of corporate sponsors. That was an easy decision. But he lost the fans with his act of trying to revolutionize the game but turns out he just needs money. Stiffing Bones on 900k? His “people’s champion” image is gone.

Golf Channel is owned by NBC. The broadcasting contract between NBC entities and the PGA tour goes into the revenue line. Just like broadcast revenue from cbs or espn/abc. I recall 55% of revenues go to the players. This includes broadcast revenue.

One last time. Fans (me included) and sponsors are ok with players (including Phil) going to the Saudi league. There are many players still going and their sponsors are still sticking with them. People are turning on Phil because he was the most vocal about how “obnoxious greed” the PGA Tour is and that’s why he is leaving to reshape the tour. Turns out he just needs the money because he is a terrible gambler. Fans are turning on him because they think he is a phony. You and @mikemarc1 can still be Phil’s fans. he’s correct. 55% of PGA TOUR revenue goes to the players. (This includes purses due tournaments)
So where does the other 45% go? Some to charity but a lot of folks making more then players.

A ton goes to charity but there are a ton of employees working for the tour and many make very big salaries. Just like people working for any professional league.

Not Golf Channel money. Charity money is raised by each individual tournament and for the most part benefits the local area.
