I've played the course probably 50 times and have played in several of the pro-ams thru the years.

It's unreal how different 16 feels with the "stadium" full as opposed to playing a random round in May or June when there are no structure up.

Depending on tee box/pin position it's never more than a 7 iron for me but as soon as you walk thru that tunnel it starts to feel crazy.

Good to see Jordan Spieth playing well again, just as I type this he hits a bad drive.

16th hole is hilarious, miss a birdie putt the crowd boos you.

Edit: actually not just the 16th, booing missed birdies on other holes too.
[/QUOTE Proper golf fans do NOT boo.Today any riff raff with t he price of admission can get in anywhere.

Not only in Phoenix is that allowed, it is encouraged by many players themselves. They get 16k on one hole. They have every record for attendance. The hold the 4day course record of well over 200k. That is almost double any other tournament. The hold the weekly record of 618k.

The players know what to expect and for 1 week a year they embrace it.

There are definitely some players who choose to stay away because they don't want to or just can't deal with the distractions. I can tell you that the 16th hole, when it's full, NEVER gets quiet.

Tiger stopped playing for that reason. That whole tournament never gets quiet. It’s awesome/

Do the caddies still race each other from tee to green on 16? Good betting opp for patrons. Like a horse race.

I want to get out there for the tournament one of these years -- 200,000+ people on the course at one time on the weekend seems like it would be surreal.

Jordan Spieth wins the Texas Open. After playing well but falling short in previous tournaments Jordan closed it out with a great final round.
