I was just curious what are employers doing about PTO /Vacation time for the rest of the year? Has your employer requested that you need to take X amount of days off say by June 1(IF that is the date we return to work)? Has your PTO/Vacation time been reduced?
Was wondering if anyone in HR can give some insight?

Thanks

No decisions yet from my company. Personally, I have yet to use a PTO in 2020 nor do I see many reasons to do so as long as we’re in this situation. I’ve heard rumblings that my company may offer to pay employees for unused PTOs at the end of the year (beyond what can be carried over).

no adjustments have been made at my office. We already get unlimited sick days (with technical rule of going on short term disability if you go over some # in a row).
I forget details but we’ve gotten messaging from very top that plans are set up for anyone who has issues with covid for themselves and for family (just forget what they are). It’s on top of and not eating into what we had initially.

No plans at this time but HR is looking into multiple options depending on when we can return to work and when people can actually take vacations.

They discussed options like rolling over more than the standard 5 days to 2021 or possibly cashing unused vacation time for $$$. Our HR group will layout the options in the near future.

I’ve worked at my company for over 25 years and took very few sick days as I’m very infrequently sick. We recently switched to PTO. I have almost 1000 sick leave hours banked. Company recently told people to use their banked SL hours before using PTO if you get sick.

Our vacation policy hasn't changed. I work in pharma and besides working from home, everything is pretty much normal. I'm sure this will significantly vary by industry.

My first full week vacation isn't until September so no issues so far.

Employer may be going t*ts up if we don't reopen some of our stores soon, so everyone is holding onto all their PTO. That's the only severance we're going to get.

Carry over calendar 2019 PTO that was to have been used by our fiscal end at April 30, 2020 can now be carried forward into fiscal 2021. That's on top of the regular PTO time for current calendar year.

I only have 14 days of vacation this year. We get 28 a year. I decided to sell back 14 days to the agency and that pay is pensionable. I have done this 3 years in a row. I have not used any of my personal days this year so will use 5 for vacation. So the plan is 2 weeks back home in Costa Rica in August. CR has done an excellent job with the virus so it’s as safe as anywhere. I am taking my boy on a fishing trip to Maine for 4 days in Early September. Hopefully I won’t have to cancel vacation. But it’s not looking like I will have to do that.

Not in HR, but my company (large publicly trade company) has mandated we all take 5 days of PTO by the end of May

At a major international financial services company - mandatory wfh since mid March.

2019 rollover days (5 max) were to be used by 3/31. They extended it and said rollover days can be used by end of 2020.

So instead of 20 vaca days now have 22.

End of the year is going to be interesting -nobody is taking vacations now. They are all being cancelled.

I had a week in Disney for April planned but obviously didn't go.

I'll start taking some days in May to watch the kids (2 toddlers and my wife is also full time working from home).

My company actually gave employees an additional two weeks that they can use during the crisis to manage home / balance kids. It's large professional services firm so the time is provided in hours.
