McCracken County, grew up there, went to Paducah city schools until 6th grade then my family moved out in the county. Never forget shopping downtown in the 60's, good memories.

Shout out to my HS. Apparently the first (and only) HS with 2000 wins in BB and 800 in FB. Yeah, I know, one of those random stats like they come up with on TV broadcasts. Still a shout out to the other Big Blue in the state.:)
Graduated and played football for Mayfield. My son is a senior at PT. Congrats to the accomplishment. I'm curious now in all time basketball wins Mayfield has. Gonna guess 18 or 19 hundred.

And only second program in the Commonwealth to get to 2000 wins in BB. Impressive.

is PT better than the monster McCracken County school now or has that flipped?

Reidland, Heath and Lone Oak could never come close to playing PT

McCracken is now about the size PTHS was in the 60's while Tilghman is around 900 students including 9th grade now. When I was there, we had 12-13 hundred and 9th grade was still jr high. Numbers alone give them the edge.

Yes it has been man. My Dad owns Rons Long Horn on hwy 58. Holler at me some time I will feed ya
Turned your Dad’s gas back on after Search and Rescue turned it off. Didn’t realize y’all were Cat fans. My 3 boys go to PT and all play football. I’ve always respected the Mayfield football program. Always felt we are similar people and more closely related then the other programs in western Kentucky. Hope all is well. Still ALOT left to do there in Mayfield but I know it will be back better than ever.

PTHS ‘61 here.

Dare I even mention this bad twist of fate. Our hated sports rival was Mayfield. Our team mascot the Blue Tornado.
Franklin-Simpson H.S. '65 here. First, my deepest sympathy and most fervent well-wishes to all of the tornado victims, from The Purchase to Bowling Green.

With respect to the "takeaside" post:

Although 2 hours away by school bus, we played Tilghman in Paducah in the Fall of '64. We lost in one of the most epic collapses in sports history. We were leading the Blue Tornado 7 - 6 with 5 minutes to play in the game. We had the ball, 1st down and goal, on the PTHS 5-yard-line. A fumble recovered by PTHS followed by two 50-yard passing bombs, and PTHS was leading 13 - 7. Following a lost fumble on the next kickoff and another long TD pass, PTHS was up 20-7, which was the final score. It's still almost unbelievable 57 years later.

As for Mayfield ... we also played the Cardinals at Mayfield that season - another two-hour drive, one way, in a school bus. MHS was ranked No. 2 in the state in the old Litkenhouse ratings when we played them. It rained the whole game. Tie game, 6 -6.

But neither PTHS nor MHS was an archrival of ours. We beat Bowling Green High 13 -7.
Sweet !

Awesome so glad you were there! Yep life long fans. Ask them if they know Isaac Chapman. Isaac had a leg injury and had to quit playing after his soph year, but he still hangs out with the football team. Thar rivalry has alot of mutual respect. In fact Steve Lovelace who is one of the coaches at PT was a linebacker at Mayfield when I played

Do you know a Butch G? Not even sure if you can put it together but thought I’d give it a shot.

Timmy Schlosser. Former coach and I think principle now at Franklin Simpson was my QB and classmate at Mayfield in 89

all on the early 1970's. I believe Scott Schlosser pitched slow pitch softball there as well. Congratulations to Paducah Tilghman for that accomplishment. I also remember Mac Taylor who had a construction company in Mayfield during that same time.

I've been away for 20 years. I don't know Coach Schlosser personally, but I know he had a nice run coaching at FSHS. i'm sure he was a great teammate !
