How do you like them. I like mine fried. Crispy but juicy. You have to have the oil really hot for this. Eat them with cole slaw, french fries and home made hush puppies. Used to be several restaurants in my home town that could do this but the only place to get them now is at Calabash on the N.C/S.C. coastline. I do like them steamed or made into some type of Italian pasta dish. Can't eat them raw though. Any way you cook them gives me loose farts. Kind of like a weed eater on idle. No sharts though just those long loose type.:D OFC

The only way I can eat them is fried and like Sky said, crispy but juicy and also of the smallish size because the big boys don't seem to cook enough. The steamed slimy little buggers I just can't eat.

A half dozen? That is like an appetizer. I can destroy them on the half shell but I love then almost any way. There is a raw bar in Charleston called 167 raw that is one of my favorites. Also Leon's....freakin delicious

I will say that story of a women getting that brain eating bacteria in Louisiana scared me a bit.

If you haven’t been you need to put Sunnyside Oyster Bar in Williamson on your bucket list.
Only open during months w an R. Been in the same building since 1930’s.
No menu. We had 2 pecks of oysters, pound of shrimp and pound of scallops. Our shucker had been there for 48 years.
Going again in April. Play a round of golf at Scotch Hall Preserve in Merry Hill and have oysters/ beer on the way home.
I don’t eat them raw anymore. If you ever get sick from doing that you know why.

My spare tire indicates I'm not overly picky when it comes to food. Particularly shellfish. I'll get my oysters however they are offered on the menu, haha.

I'm allergic to shrimp, crab and lobster but I can eat oysters and love them! I eat them raw, steamed, fried and rockerfeller!

If you get down here to the Crystal Coast, T&W Oyster bar is really good, a bit pricy , but the oyster bar is run great, they open them for you, they are hot and the beer is cold. The only fall back, many times the oysters aren't local, either Gulf Coast or Chesapeake Bay Oysters. If you're feeling like a badass, ask for a Rooster. You usually get a free T shirt for eating one, if you finish it.

I like them fried the best but it's hard to beat some jacked up oysters.

Charbroil and topped with some garlic butter, bacon (or tasso), jalapeno and pepper jack cheese. Some good eating
