Borgata decided to stay closed for now due to Murphy putting the kabosh on indoor dining. Well worded press release but no doubt they know it’s not even worth it to open then. Goodbye to those jobs and also the tax revenue chief.

Shoobies are not as bad and they leave in August since the PA school year starts early. We are heading to Stone Harbor for the middle 2 weeks of Aug for a reason! :)

I used to live in one of the two apartments above Shoobies in Sea Isle city in the late 90’s

nothin better than happy hour at the OD, getting lucky And heading back, getting a nap and starting all over again in the same day

I miss my youth, so much strange

Are bars open in NJ yet, indoor bars I mean? If not when are they expected to open ? Down here bars are open you just can't sit at the bar (have to sit at a table) which apparently is to protect the bartender. That's the explanation I got anyway. The bartenders think it's ridiculous

Some older folks decided to die at home w COVID instead of being sentenced to NJ nursing homes.

So the numbers are actually higher when that gets added back in.

Murphy is Cuomo’s apprentice.

I'm confused...

They were in nursing homes, contracted Covid, went to the hospital and then were released to... "home"?

I'm gonna need some examples of this, because it doesn't really make a lot of sense.

They did not all start out in nursing homes. Many were living at home, went into the hospital for any number of reasons ( minor surgery, temp hospital stay, etc) and were discharged from the hospital for a period of rehab before going back home, or so they thought.

Except Cuomo and Murphy sent them to nursing homes where they contracted the virus from staff or other patients and they never got to go home and see their families again.

Nursing homes, or skilled nursing facilities? There's a difference.

I would ask that you do some detailed research into this and then let's circle back to it.

Those of us who have deceased parents are already familiar with how this works.

Nursing home care provides permanent custodial assistance, whereas a skilled nursing facility is more often temporary, to solve a specific medical need or to allow recovery outside a hospital.

The reality is that traditional nursing homes providing permanent custodial assistance also provide rehab services, or skilled nursing care for non residents who have been discharged from a hospital.

As an example my late Mom never lived in a nursing home but was dispatched to nursing homes a number of times after surgery and hospital stays. AFAIK most nursing homes are also skilled nursing facilities.

Some do. Not all. Which is why I made the distinction.

My point is that you're painting this issue with a broad brush and I don't think that's any more appropriate in this case than it is in any other.

dining out should be reserved for your small group of family and very close friends....seems incredibly hypocritical to cry about masks and lament one death is to many and becoming hysterical about one person spreading the virus in a bar when you are literally sitting with non family member 6 inches away breathing in their air.

John always liked the poofy hair. When we were in school basically all the guys had that 70s long, parted in the middle and feathered back thing going on. We all carried brushes or big combs to make sure it was perfect at all times.

Looking back, it's a stupid look. But it worked pretty well at the Royal Manor.
