Doc's, Original Oyster House, and Brick and Spoon has a killer breakfast. We also went to LuLu's and let my little one play for a few hours one night. Didn't stay to eat though.

Perdido Bay Seafood. It's a fish market under the bridge over Lost Key Golf Club. Get some steamed shrimp, have them ice it down. Get a pint or two of raw oysters. Buy whatever came in on the boats fresh that morning. Hit up a Publix for some italian bread and a few veges to go with it. Get some bacon, horseradish, ketchup, lemons, Worcestershire, and hot sauce as well. Take it back to the condo. Bacon wrap the oysters and broil them. Serve with hot sauce. Broil the fish in the oven with butter and lemon, or cook it in a skillet. Dredge with a bit of flour and pan fry in butter. Never eaten anywhere as good as a piece of scamp, redfish, cobia, grouper, flounder, or snapper that was cooked in the kitchen of the condo. Then pour another beverage and fall asleep on the balcony. Oh, and peel and eat the shrimp whenever you feel like it. Mix up your cocktail sauce with the ketchup, lemon juice, worcestershire, horseradish, and hot sauce.

That covers dinner. As for lunch, Hub Stacey's and the Original Point are my favorites. All this stuff is in Perdido Key, but it's only a few minute drive. If ya really want to stay in Orange Beach to eat, still drive to Perdido to get the fresh seafood to cook for dinner, but eat lunch at Neptunes, Papa Roccos, or Doc's. I guess you can go to Lulu's once for a tshirt, a boat drink, and some overpriced average food. Same for Tacky Jacks.

With kids : Docs good cheap food, The Gulf its on the beach, Caymen Grill because of the big indoor fish tank, Flippers so you can feed the fish, Baumhaurers at the Wharf and sit in the swinging tables outside, or LuLU's in GS because of the playground.

Without kids: Big fish, Cosmos, Cobalt, Flora Bama Yacht Club, or Flippers. All because of the food.

Fisherman's Corner - technically Perdido but its all the same - they own the seafood market next door. all fresh and is great
Fishers Upstairs - High end and pricey but delicious
Cosmos - everyone loves it. To me its ok but everyone else calls it one of their favorites
Tin Top - long drive (45 mins) back to Bon Secour but damn good. Get the sauteed crab claws for an app
Cayman Grill - New restaurant owned by the same people that own Cosmos/Cobalt but better. Massive outside seating with fantastic sunset view and good drinks

Skip the Gulf and Big Fish, both are extremely overrated

my faves.....

Ok guys headed to Orange Beach what are some of yalls best family restaurant recommendations? Got two boys four and two.

My all time favorite is The Point, been eating there since 1984. Love the mullet sandwich. A new fave is The Gulf on beach near the pass. Always have to eat at the Original Oyster House. Wife loves Cosmo. There is an Acme Oyster House in Gulf Shores near Lulu's. I love Acme in 'nawlins. Acme in Gulf Shores wasn't open the last time I was there but anxious to try it.

Shipp's Harbour Grill on Canal Rd. It's our favorite hands down. We go often and it's consistent. Great fish dishes and good steaks. Sunday brunch is great too.

Let me just end this discussion now: Fishers upstairs (it's been a lot of things over the years, but new owners finally hit nail on head), and Fishermans Corner under bridge at Perdido Key. If you're staying on the east end (i.e. Perdido Key) it's worth a drive to downtown Pcola to The Fishhouse or our fav, The Grand Marlin on Pcola beach. Sunset Grill at Holiday Harbor marina has GREAT afternoon views of the bay and so so food, but cold beer. So there.

Thrill List this morning edition named the 21 best seafood shacks in America. Two are on the Redneck Riviera - Doc's and Lulu's. I think they blew it missing the Point, but the list is heavily Atlantic and Pacific spots. Only one in LA - which is ridiculous and none in MS (I think they missed some good ones).

I would recommend something within walking distance. 2nd weekend in Oct. is the Shrimp Festival and traffic is killer. In Gulf Shores Beach Blvd. & several other streets are closed off at the main intersection with 59. Last couple of years it's been as crowded as any summer holiday weekend.
