Sure let’s all root for Russia as their leader threatens all of Europe and the West. I know politics is not allowed.

You know politics are not allowed, yet you still can't stop yourself. Just shut the **** up already and stop polluting every single thread. Literally nobody here even mentioned rooting for Russia anyway, you are making up your own arguments.

No you need to get off the Russian Hockey team bandwagon. And your claim of hijacking every thread is actually BS. Admit it you just don’t like the FACT that there are MANY that don’t appreciate what is going on during these Olympics. It is a political theater and most realize my “ argument” is valid . Keep praising them because if it comes about we may all wish we were not living in these times. Hope you realize the Russian leadership is not on a good course.

WTF are you talking about get off the Russian hockey team bandwagon? I'm rooting for Finland as I'm sure the vast majority of American hockey fans are. If you have a valid political argument to make, then by all means go make it on the current events board.

Now we can agree on something Finland . Now I can put you back on ignore. See how easy that was? And my sentence “ I know politics is not allowed” was done purposely and it proved to be true. The ONLY time you post back to me is to make it a personal thing if YOU don’t like something. By the way the Olympics have ALWAY# been about POLITICS.

This whole thread was almost all about China hate and not one word about Denmark who lead in medal count with 35 and 15 gold.

The hate for China ‘s system’s is for a good reason or reasons. Maybe that more than anything else tells the story of what values people here and around the inclusive world think. Especially what some American companies , athletes , pro teams and others seem to forget. But…. It will ultimately show up down the road . You reap what you sow.

I don’t know why you would respond to him like that when every word he said is clearly true, and recognized by most rational people. If you really think he’s talking BS about China, you’ve got you’re head buried in the sand.

This.
The World looked away in the beginning when the 3rd Reich steamrolled through Europe in WWII seizing countries and taking millions of lives. The US and our Allies saved the world from this tyranny. Putin is the same Dictator as Hitler. Needs to be put down now.

Thank you very much but please realize this tool Fsg2 is just that… a loud mouth … talks tough behind his keyboard … I don’t get into intimidation but some of the younger generation seem to think that… he has followed my posts for several years but only those relating to questionable topics …he and some others don’t have clue of what could happen to the USA and the FREE world … one thing I can guarantee this clown. IF Vlad is allowed to do this it will only be the start.

This is the third time for Putin, 2008 Russia war with Georgia, 2014 takeover of Crimea and now war 2022 with Ukraine. Putin putting up the iron curtain again. I agree he‘s not stopping at Ukraine. The Ukrainians will need to fight for their own country with US arms. My Ukrainian friend is thinking about going back to try to get the parent out.

There unfortunately are some educated board posters who don’t seem at all concerned with Russia’s position nor their backers. I guess they know more than 90% of the world. Good luck there is more coming down the track. I really hope these sympathizers feel the same in several weeks.

You didn't understand Moneyball.
Moneyball may have started out as a way of maximizing the impact of limited resources, but it's lasting legacy is the legitimizing of sabermetrics and analytics in sports. I'm a full believer in the use of stats to drive decisions made by sports teams (as a huge soccer fan, metrics are of great interest to me, moreso than in other sports) , my point is that it doesn't always lend itself to enjoyable spectator events. Bomb and gouge in golf, the disappearance of the midrange game in basketball, literally every aspect of baseball, etc.

And I think what’s more troubling, is the fact that even in the last decade, the world has become so much more intertwined. Gone are the days when countries could think “that’s on the other side of the world, it doesn’t concern me”. Between it being more of a world economy, and with the possibility that strokes on a keyboard can inflict serious damage across the globe, this should be everyone’s concern.

Team Giant Slalom, bronze medal game. Even though the Norwegian man got a DNF on the last head-to-head matchup, they still won, based on fastest time by the females. Feels like a gyp.

Whatever. It's been fun.

US men's snowboard halfpipe team is looking scarce without Shaun White, but ski team grabbed silver and bronze.

Kind of a weird games with many of the big US stars from last few cycles either retired, aged and a step behind, or just not on their game this time. Still an alright showing overall - not like we usually win winter games.

Big congrats to Finland for their first gold medal in hockey, taking down Russia 2-1. Finland takes gold, Russia silver, and Slovakia bronze. The next Winter Olympics will be in Italy again, hopefully we'll get to see the NHL players go this time.

These Olympics were tough to
Watch . Lack of American stars , and the lack of live events really hurt it.
See you all again in summer 2024

Sports of all sorts have adapted continuously throughout history. Moneyball was just about finding value in otherwise not valued skillsets. If you're not adapting in sports you're falling behind.

US Winter Olympics used to be about women's skating. The decline of US skating (no gold medal since 1998) has diminished Olympic appeal. A change in international scoring (after French cheating) conflicted with US scoring and people lost the plot. US skating emphasizes skating cleanly while international scoring has emphasized difficulty. The Russian skating factory gets ahead with its very young teens being pushed to do difficult and harmful tricks before they mature physically. Skaters in their 20s can't easily do the extreme tricks.

He has little man’s syndrome from being short. Everything is an argument with that guy.
