Presidential Scholars Program made her a candidate 2 years after she announced to compete for China. How clueless our DoE is!

The United States Presidential Scholars Program is a program of the United States Department of Education. It is described as "one of the Nation's highest honors for students" in the United States of America and the globe.

I gotta say....

A policy of "if you aren't fully loyal to your country of birth then you need to leave the country and lose all association and benefits" sounds exactly like something I would image China would implement.

Pretty sure people were criticizing China earlier in the thread saying that what she did wouldn't be allowed in the opposite direction.
And now are advocating for exactly that type of policy?

we have plenty of athletes competing under our flag who were born in other countries and have dual citizenship.

It's the same as the Transfer Portal threads.

Athlete transfers from Rutgers: We don't want players that bail on their teammates and leave.
Athlete transfers to Rutgers: Great job! Welcome to the team!

I asked my niece and nephew … both scored over 1500 + on their boards . Both Valedictorians of their high school. A top New Jersey High School in North Jersey. Both graduated with honors in 3 1/2 years from Cal Berkeley . Oh and they happen to be Asian / Korean American so as liberal as they may be their families are not . They are millennials but they absolutely feel the same. For Gu to compete against the country of your birth is wrong especially representing genocidal / propagandist ones such as the CCP. I ‘m all for free speech, expression, equality and peace but if you are with China then we are irreparably disjointed on the subject. Don’t fret though those media shills MSNBC , CBS , CNN will make sure she gets only positive feedback . They’ll all kowtow down to the CCP. They prove it all the time.

It has been discussed before. A lot of Americans have competed for other countries. You guys are mad only because that country is CHINA.
Yeah you are correct … Genocidal China … they’ve been that way for centuries… they’re a fine example . No matter how bad we may be or have been they are many times over more corrupt, evil and capable of propaganda at the top. Remember this is about the CCP not Taiwan or the general people themselves. Are you in favor of the system in place there?

Are you from China or something?
This guy is probably an exchange student from China . I have no problem with foreign students being educated here . But the point was would this current CCP endorse / encourage their actual native born athletes to compete for the USA. Can you name me one? Not Japan or Mexico or France but the USA . I’ll wait for you’re list of athletes.

It's part of their spy infiltration techniques, as we know.

I hate CCP and XI as much as you do. I just don’t think GU is a traitor.

I think her situation is probably more due to having a Chinese tiger mom so I don't care about her.

But China just killed 1000s of people with a bio-weapon that supposedly "accidentally" escaped - and China hid the fact for weeks. They are also collecting millions of peoples genes for other bioweapons that can kill by racial and genetic markers. Of course China is fixated to taking down US, and has practiced "elite capture" via blackmail, payola and sex (a current House intel commitee chair had a Chinese hooker/spy staff his office). Going to rep China in 2020 Olympics is more like a German repping Germany in 1936 and not like a Canadian hockey player in US repping Canada. China regime is creepy.

Sshhh we aren't supposed to talk about that. They can make ski jumps near nuclear plants and buy American athletes. Rejoice!

So it’s all about China then. Do you know how many Chinese students studying at Rutgers?
Don’t care since I ‘m not on the admissions committee. The numerical numbers has nothing to do with anyone’s feelings about this athlete. Maybe Stanford will give her a plaque in honor of her Gold for CCP . Is that ok in your globalist world? You are definitely in line for a rude awakening like some others. If you don’t think our biggest challenge is China you are not realizing somethings that others have witnessed. Last and I’ll leave it alone. Ask those Asian students ( born in Mainland China -CCP) at Rutgers and if they’re being truthful. Where they will be in 10 - 20-30 years from today. . Back here or in the motherland. ? You know they will be back home worshipping at the feet of Xi.

Geez. I’m not a current student.
The reason I ask is you joined this site in September 2021. Gave pause that you were indeed a current student. Anyway I respect your opinions on this. Time will tell… BTW: I ‘m waiting on that list of Chinese athletes competing for the USA.

Funny last evening my wife is watching the women’s acrobatic aerials says…” come here they are jumping next to a nuclear reactor site”. I told her ,” nah those are grain silos to feed the Uighars in the detainment camps.” All is good right?

In the recent Tokyo summer games, 34 athletes (representing 5% of the team) were born in foreign countries but later became US citizens- a requirement to compete for Team USA and chose to compete for USA. 13 were from Europe, 7 from Asia, 6 from Africa , 6 from So. America and 2 Aussies. Many went on to win medals in track & field, swimming, wrestling, soccer, etc. . Then there are the first generation American athletes who are children of immigrants who came to the US (Korda, Schauffle, etc) . Immigrants- we get the job done!
