They wouldn’t have let deGrom pitch a complete game so they would have lost anyway. No way the Yankees dont score at least 1 run if deGrom only pitched 7 innings. If he went 8, we had a chance.

Citifield as pathetic as its dimensions are is built for a team that makes contact; gets doubles etc - like how many ST Louis Cardinal teams were constructed. Except our astute GM builds a team that is the complete opposite of how to build a team for this stadium. if only the Wiplons can go on Sharktank and have Cuban give them an offer he can't refuse.

As a neutral observer who watched DeGrom yesterday, and listened to the announcers talk about his incredible stretch of great pitching and lack of run support, that is the takeaway I had.

How frigging good would this guy be if he didn't go into every game thinking he had to pitch as if giving up 1 or 2 runs means an insurmountable lead against his team?

Tonight we have Rosario and his .279 OBP batting leadoff and Frazier in the 2 hole. I think Callaway is on drugs.

Top Mets prospect Jarred Kelenic tripped on pebble. Broke both legs and tore his ACL while trying to catch himself. Out for next 2 seasons.

Might as well be like the best the Mets have: David Wright and Yoenis Cespedes.

This is less funny than it seems, because it really does suggest what the Mets culture has become.

If I'm paying a guy $27M a year, I don't want him to be a *****. I think Cespedes is the way he is in part because he's wired that way. But also, in part, because Wright's clubhouse Flying Dutchman routine says it's okay to be that way.

Wright needs to get the f*ck off this ball club. He needs to stop hanging around the locker room in his uniform talking about how maybe someday he'll play again.

The team needs to change its culture and adopt a more lunch pail oriented attitude. Guys who want to play can stay. Guys who want to collect a paycheck can go do that somewhere else.

Need to trade Jake now. Please stop fooling yourself if you think the Wilpons will build around him. How? The won’t pay to sign top notch free agents. They have minimal talent at triple A. Better players are years away. Jake’s value will never be any higher and he is just another injury away from having Zero trade value.

Now............. if the team got sold, GM went bye bye along with Callaway well then Jake stays :sunglasses:

It's amazing there's any Mets fans left. I think most that are left need their heads examined. We're not winning anything until there's a complete change in executive decision makers and philosophy. To think otherwise is completely insanity.

I hear what you are saying but that's not how it works. It takes two to tango. Contending teams are figuring out what they need to make a run and what they're willing to offer. The market forms in July and that's when the trades are made.

Your proposed trade is complicated further by the fact that deGrom is not a rental. The Mets will (or at least should!) demand a whole lot more than if he were a rental. So the buyer needs to project not only its pitching needs for the year, but its needs for the next couple of years, and determine whether the price will be asking will be worth it.

And are the Mets ready to blow it up? Trading deGrom means more than saying you aren't going to contend this year. It means you're not going to contend for the next 3-5 years. That's a difficult conclusion for a NY team to reach.

This is the type of trade that usually happens during the offseason.

I suspect that the Wright situation is more complicated than you suggest. AFAIK no doctor has declared his medical condition to be career ending. Which means that if he retires, he walks away from what is left on his contract. He gets $20M this year, $15M in 2019, and $12M in 2020.

The ideal situation would be for the Mets to reach a buyout deal with Wright. However, I am guessing that the insurance company would fight that.

If we are not spending money and minors league system is horrible will take us longer than 3-5 years to compete
