OT: NY Mets Season

So now the geniuses don’t want to tax the bullpen by starting someone like Lugo to try to stop a six game skid. Instead, they will start a kid who’s never pitcherd in the majors, has a 6.75 era in triple A and will make his debut in a little league ballpark. I doubt that we will need the bullpen with that plan...lol.
Please provide supporting facts, or at least opinions, for that statement.
How else do you explain going from 11-1 to this (sleepwalk a week away at home, etc). Hopefully they perk up, and fast.

Let’s start with losing your top two catchers. Add in injuries to DeGrom and Cespedes. Not giving up by far
C'mon man. Baseball is a game of streaks. Hot streaks result in fan irrational
exuberance. Cold streaks result in fans saying the team has given up on the season.
Last year the Dodgers won 104 games. That included an 11 game losing streak in which they looked absolutely awful. Would you say they gave up on the season?
Cespedes is ridiculous. I love his skills, but the guy goes down when somebody at Citi Field sneezes. He's kind of a *****.
The Catcher Position for the Mets:
- Lobaton is hitting .140 and Nido not much better at .150.
This is all you have to say about Sandy and the Wilpons. The day when D'Arnaud and Plawecki went down, something needed to occur such as signing Miguel Montero or some type of deal for a catcher - and this franchise continues to provide an automatic out with the 2 worst catchers any team can have.
By the way, who is the Mets Hitting Coach and is he new due to Calloway's hire? Maybe it's time to hold him accountable for this pathetic stretch of offense the Mets continue to display.
To put things in perspective at the C position:
- Rene Rivera is doing a good job in Anaheim hitting in the 300's
- As much as fans didn't like D'Arnaud, he still hit 16HR's and drove in 57 Runs last year. These 2 clowns at the C Position couldn't do this if they both got 1,000 AB's this season.

So you're blaming the fold job in going from 11-1 to barely over .500 in a matter of weeks on the catching position? Never mind that nobody aside from the 2B is really earning their pay. Cespedes just got hurt today and Degrom' s loss hasn't really been felt yet either.
Guess you have not watched the same season as I have. Ces. Has been in and out of lineup with injuries. Pitchers are used to throwing to their regular catchers. Occasionally to the backup. Certainly not two catchers they barely know. I agree that their are other reasons. I don’t agree that the team gave up. Conforto is coming off a major injury. Huge problem is lack of depth in minors. If we had anyone who could play the outfield I would send Conforto down to work on his swing.
The Mets are made up of streaky hitters, 2 very good starting pitchers, 1 starter who could be a fifth guy(Matz) a streaky BO and the 2nd coming of A Benetez.
Even though I like that they are playing more aggressive then they have in 5 years(and in the bad streak, looks like they are no where near as aggressive) they just have the players to carry that off for long.

I guess I haven't. LOL But you might want to do some fact-checking before posting next time. Cespedes has appeared in every game this season and even with his early exit yesterday has only one less AB than the team leader Cabrera.
Yeah... Rivera is a scrub only hitting .279 this year. This guy wouldve held down the catcher position like he did last year.

Is LoDuca the last Mets catcher play in over 100 games in a season and to hit int he 300s?
2006: he hit 318 in 445 at bats.
The catcher position has been a vast wasteland since then.
Evan Roberts just noted that the Mets haven't won since Francesa returned(and the Yankees haven't lost).
Easy big guy. Here are the facts
Ces. has been pulled from games early leaving the bench depleted. Regarding catching Mets had to use Nido to pinch hit. Ask any major league coach would they rather Nido or Travis. Not saying Ttavis gets the game winning hit but I’d rather take my chances with him if he is healthy.
CES has left two or 3 games early, his abscense is not why we are losing. Agreed about the catching situation however.
Ces leaving games early combined with our pitchers not going deep in games uses up your pinch hitters options early. Don’t get me wrong I love a healthy Ces. Look at the game where he stole second and third ( hurt on head first slide). Right before that I was saying to my buddy his legs are feeling better. He brought excitement and speed. The team hardly has any speed which makes it tough to manufacture runs
Mets "pinch" hitters. They are so riveting, I need to pinch myself to stay awake to see them make outs. Reyes, Lagares, . . . .the only won worth staying awake for is Nimmo.
Even my wife knew that taking a called strike 3 with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th and the tying & winning runs on base is one of baseball's cardinal sins.
And the really sad thing about it was that it was a beautiful pitch. A hitter's pitch.
I noticed I made a spelling errah in my post, but maybe "only won" and Nimmo was a a Freudian slip. The rest of the pinch hitters are losers.
Perhaps someone can show where I am wrong, and I will gladly eat crow.

Texas assistant pitching coach Dan Warthen is encouraging his front office to consider Harvey. Warthen, who was the longtime Mets' pitching coach, has been a fan since Harvey's prospect days.
The Yankees are not interested in Harvey. It's possible, of course, that there are other suitors yet to be identified.
Other executives expect that the team will seek a backup catcher, but consider Boston's Blake Swihart to be an unrealistic return for Harvey.

I honestly didn't expect to get anything for Harvey. I would have settled for a box of Toys R' Us gift cards.
Throw in Armando Familia, or Robles, to sweeten the deal
