Having watched ARod on TV for Fox in the past and ESPN now, he can be a pretty likable guy. I lay the blame for the majority of fans hating him, and I mean before the steroid scandal, at the feet of Scott Boras. The demands were way over the top

Right now Degrom and Thor are averaging about 6. Harvey and Matz 5. Wheeler has never been more than a 5 inning pitcher. Did you watch the team last year. They had the same problem and burned the pen out by May. I do not expect each starter to go 7 every start but they need to avg 6 to 6 and change to give the pen a chance.

No argument. If you said they need to average 6 initially I wouldn't have bothered responding.

We agree. I was just going by what the numbers are right now. I was probably inarticulate in how I originally stated it.

Its been pretty cold. Everyone is coming off an injury besides deGrom. They are all building up to 6-7 per start which is fine when you have 2 legit starters in the pen and one more coming back shortly. Smart coaching.

To explain why I am ok with the starters at 5/6 innings...I am talking about right now, not for the season. Our guys are brittle as hell...let them go 5 now so they are going 7 in the summer and fall. Or at least even make it to the summer or fall. Lugo and Gsel help a ton with the middle relief right now so no big deal.
