Whatever, man lol. Feel the same way about watching spring training in seeing what suprise player will come up North. Plus on a day like today, I need all I can get to feel warm, even if its spring training on tv lol.
You know damm well Reyes and Gonzalez are not going anywhere. Reyes should've never been resigned after hitting <.200 for 7/8 of the season. Hosmer, Flores, or Smith should be playing first base, not Gonzalez but we all know the GM would rather have cheap veterans crap the bed instead of young players.
Montero has had SO MANY chances for so many years that even I'm like GTFOOH!!!!! HOW many times are we going to see Ty Kelley do the same thing or nothing? He's this year's Eric Campbell, Kurt Neuinhiess, or Matt denDekker (whoops). Let's see what players like Luis Guillorme can do.
I actually like Reyes on the team if it is as a backup/utility type of role and not starting.

Need Thor, deGrom and one other pitcher to carry this team. Hitting and offense is a major worry.
If Vargas can give us 175-200 innings and even if it is at a 4.20 era, that will be a huge help. And then some mixture of Harvey, Matz, Wheeler, Lugo...I think we can fill out the rotation respectfully. But...top 2 guys have to be healthy all year.
On offense, I hate the way we are built but that may just be old fashioned. I think you pencil 3B as .240-.250 BA 25-30 HR, if AC is healthy most of the year 280/15 HR at 2b, Rosario as SS is critical- does he end up .240 and 10HR or .285+ with 15-20 HR. 1B a question and OF if healthy could each average 270-300 and 25+ HR each if healthy. Reyes, Flores, the CF'ers behind Comforto can also be real quality on the bench too. So, this could end up a very good offense or a below average offense. But we will either score in bunches or not at all.
BTW- Except that JF reminds me of A Benitez, Ramos and crew in the middle/late innings have a chance to make this a really good bullpen.
Maybe it's because we have been so snake bit, but I would think Thor is throwing way to hard, too early after missing a good part of last season. Also, I'd never throw Thor, Degrom or any of the front line pitchers in spring training against the Nationals. Why let them get anymore looks at them than they will see during the regular season.

My early take
1.Like combo of Callaway and Pitching coach should help.
2. No official closer should keep them hungry to perform well
3.When Conforto comes back offense should be Ok. Still need to see something out of 1st base. Believe catcher will perform OK with D’Arnaud and Plawecki combo.
4. Robles needs to go
5. If they can stay healthy (big if) should be able to contend for wildcard. Just get to the playoffs and see what happens

Did you ever think, the mods,which is their job, did it on their own? If you bring nothing to the thread except the same tired line over and over again,they toss you,simple as that,I'm guessing. One in particular, states over and over again,that he speaks the truth,but in reality,he is really complaining about a schedule that no team has control over,in fact, when they play cross league, there is very little difference in which league out performs the other. It gets very tiring,lol.
No one said the team had control over their schedule. But they can still benefit from who they play...or don't play.
People weren't barred from posting in Mets threads because they said the same thing over and over as you contend. For example, I was banned from the Mets preseason thread THIS YEAR and their schedule was never discussed. Mets fans are apparently way more sensitive to people knocking their team than most fanbases...at least on the Rutgers board. And their crying hasn't fallen on deaf ears apparently.
I'm fine with that. I don't like seeing grown men cry either.

Huh ? I discussed the Mets schedule many times in LAST YEAR'S Mets thread.....until I was blocked from posting in it. I was also blocked from posting IN THIS YEAR'S preseason thread....and I never mentioned the word SCHEDULE once in that one.

i don't see it. They still play in the NL East, where they get 19 games vs. Philadelphia, Miami, and Atlanta. They have long stretches where they play only those three teams. It's always gonna be hard for them to not flirt with .500 and a shot at the second wild card in the NL."

OK, so lets see if the adage"you never have enough pitching" holds true with the Mets.Their spouting about going with a 6 man rotation, and that's not even counting Lugo or Gsellman.I'm gonna bet, at least 2 go down before the end of May, and the Mets will be scrambling to put a rotation together. Maybe this is the year they all stay healthy, I'm just not sleeping on that.
I agree with this and posted earlier that the 64 million question is if they can stay healthy. If you look at the everyday line up, it's a little older but not bad, the bullpen should be improved with Ramos there and a healthy Familia, and Noah, DeGrom and Vargas are solid. Just need the other three guys to get back to being solid. One division caveat: don't sleep on the Phillies, especially if they sign Arrieta, which I think they will.
Yankees signing Mets cast offs? Yup, we signed Frazier, but I consider him a local kid, always will.
At $4 mil, he is a good signing. Can play 1st/2nd/3rd if needed. Wouldn't have minded him in the same role here with the Mets. I would have really liked our bench if it started with Walker and Reyes. The problem with our team, is that we would most likely have signed him for 12mil and had him starting somewhere until he got hurt.
