Stop. They come into our thread to talk trash then people are going to respond. I personally ignore because they have no clue what they're talking about but hard to fault others. If they go into the dead zone it's another story.not needed
I think it'll fall back a bit but getting Manaea back will also help that. I also think anything that falls back in pitching will be made up with our bats especially in RISP where we're still 28th in the majors at .217. Hitters are too good for that to continue. The question is - is the pitching sustainable?
If I was more confident with the overall bullpen, I wouldn’t be that concerned. The question is - is the pitching sustainable?
Mr. Stearns will be quite active at the trade deadline in his quest for bullpen arms!If I was more confident with the overall bullpen, I wouldn’t be that concerned.
But I’m a worry wort.![]()
It would have been better had the Mets not blown the lead Tuesday night. We are talking about a possible sweep of the Dodgers in LA. That would be sending a message not only to the Dodgers but to the rest of the NL.Great Mets baseball night and baseball night in general. I'll sleep a lot better than I did Tuesday night.
I like the fact that the Mets have depth in their starting pitching. Maybe during the postseason, one or two of the starters could move to the bullpen to make it stronger. The question is - is the pitching sustainable?
Unless there is an injury, I'm the reverse. The BP has pitched 230 innings so far and have a 2.87 ERA...I am not sure if they can keep it up but being more than 1/3 of the way through, there is a chance that they are what they are this year. I feel pretty good about the BP.
What scares me a little is the starters. Very hard to have an entire staff stay this good. And as good as Hefner is- I always worry about the number of walks we give up.
Anyone against a Pete contract is crazy. As he is also not the type to get lazy and he just loves being a Met.Will beg for another Pete extension
Boy have they found a way to botch this inning.Cmon
Terrible play by Baty
12 LOB
Leadoff walk
Conforto 0-11 with huge hit to take the lead

Got to find it again think he was 0-30 this season with RISP until thenConforto picked a great time to finally get a hit. Yay for him, but he still sucks.
Gut punch loss.
You can beg, but I strongly suspect it won't happen. Will beg for another Pete extension
I thought the same thing. It really wasn't wild at all. Baty muffed the play. That's all.
Media too fixated on clicks.I thought the same thing.

The play was kinda weird. Garrett, sensing a rundown, properly went to provide backup coverage of home. When Baty made his bad throw, Alvarez tried to do a first baseman's scoop, which is hard to do with a catcher's mitt. The ball popped into the air and Garrett alertly caught it. He lunged to make the tag, and might have been able to do so, except that Alvarez was in his path and they collided. It really wasn't wild at all. Baty muffed the play. That's all.
Maybe it's been a while since you watched a little league game . . .. . . He botched a play that would would expect a little leaguer to make . . . .
Yeah, Baty pulled a Fredo there. Send him off to Vegas to run a Casino! The play was kinda weird. Garrett, sensing a rundown, properly went to provide backup coverage of home. The video clip was probably pretty funny to non-Mets fans.
But as you say, this is ultimately on Baty. He botched a play that would would expect a little leaguer to make, and it may have cost the game.
Well, back in ancient times when I played Little League, I would have made that play. That is my frame of reference.Maybe it's been a while since you watched a little league game . . .
My Al Bundy moment in sports- in the "minor league" of LL (9-10 years old)-I pitched an immaculate inning. It will be the first item of accomplishment in my obit.Well, back in ancient times when I played Little League, I would have made that play. That is my frame of reference.
