Which was the more noteworthy event today. Brandon Nimmo's 9 RBI, or Jose Urena giving up a 5 run inning and still getting a save?
I guess Nimmo was more noteworthy but Urena getting a save with that stat line also caught my eye. I know the Mets scored a ton of runs late but how can you give a guy a save in that situation?

Or Lindor getting hit by a pitch twice in one inning.
That has happened more often than one might think - seven times since 1974. We don't have reliable play-by-play records prior to 1974. The last player to take the double doink was Brandon Moss of the A's in 2014.

What an inning defensively. Kudos to Ron for "Tommy can you hear me" reference on the pinballed first play.

If othe Mets hit, we can live with a defensive CF like this.
And Lindor, showing why he will finish 2in MVP again to someone…

Ronny Mauricio played in the field for the first time so that's a good sign.

Offense heating up. I'll be in 123 for tomorrow's matinee. Might need an extra pencil for the scorecard

Brooklyn just won 15-1 today. Reimer hit 3 HRs in the game and 2 HR for Ronald Hernandez. Lots of other hits as well obviously.

Just saw an article in something called BVM sports, listing the 10 greatest Mets of all time. Here is their countdown:

10. Jose Reyes
9. Pete Alonso
8. Jerry Koosman
7. Keith Hernandez
6. Jacob deGrom
5. Darryl Strawberry
4. Mike Piazza
3. Dwight Gooden
2. David Wright
1. Tom Seaver

I think #1 is unanimous, but the rest is subject to debate. What do you all think? Is Pete Alonso, based on his current body of work, already one of the top 10 Mets of all time?

Beltran has to be on the list. HoJo and Alfonso need to be on the next 10 along with Grote and Buddy. Hard to argue top 10 too much. and Lindor takes Reyes off the list very soon.

Danny Young to the IL

The Mets announced today that they have selected right-hander Chris Devenski from Triple-A Syracuse.

No lefties in the pen now.

Ok guys- is Acuna a rising star? Also, for those that follow the minors closer…is he no power or could do 20+ doubles and 10+ HR?

I can say, I want him in the lineup every day.

His career minor league numbers were so-so. And, while I've heard folks speculate that he was bored in the minors, he's going to have to perform well for a much longer period of time for any real (at least by me) decision on whether he's a rising star. I hope he is, but I also know that my hope and yours don't matter. So he's just going to need a much lengthier track record given his minor league record. .

Pure speculation on my part and Willis covered some of it already. With his speed I don't think 20+ doubles would be an issue if he continues to barrel up like he has so far. He'll gap a lot of balls and get his fair amount of triples as well. 10 HRs would likely be the max in any given year but he'll likely be in single digits. I kind of envision a poor man's Reyes if he maxes out.

Something to watch. Wonder if Stearns will try and make a small deal for one.
