United stranded me in Louisville earlier in the week. Had to rent a car and drive home. It's a mess, for certain.
A while back I had an idea that there are probably a lot of former military-trained controllers who could be trained up to handle small, regional towers in basically no time at all. I could certainly do it. Wouldn't need much of a salary, because I'm a couple years from retirement anyway. Don't need a pension. It would allow the existing regional tower controllers to transition up to a sector job. Short-term fix while hiring / training of new controllers spins up.
