They already have a pretty nice road test scheduling app which I used just last week. Why they didn't think about appointments is crazy? I would rather wait 3 weeks and show up and be served than wait in a 2 hour line.

If it were just the Edison DMV, it wouldn't be newsworthy

Apparently it's State wide issues.

I wouldn't be waiting in those long lines either.

One thing I like about the Cape May inspection office is you make an appointment to drive your car in. I have never waited more than 3 minutes.

Murphy has no clue whats going on

What is this radical "appointment" system you are talking about? Can't be a real thing!
:)

Drove past the one in Toms River, there must have been 60 cars in line. Then just heard Eatontown and Freehold are running the same ridiculous lines. Freehold is usually empty.

I'm starting to think a ticket isn't such a bad option. I'll probably just take it to Joe's Garage and pay the $40 bucks for my wife's car inspection.

From what I’ve read they have extended the expiration on registration renewals two months , so hopefully we’ll get the renewal form in the mail so I can do online and avoid the lines.

My wife and daughter are waiting in Freehold. They showed up 6:30 this morning and there was 150 people in line already. They are waiting since my daughter would have gotten her license in April but had to wait due to the pandemic. And of course the state screwed this one up. They said anyone who had their driver's test appointment scheduled would get an e mail stating when they can come in. That went out the window. We got a letter a week ago giving us a code to enter online. Meanwhile they opened up the reservations online and a ton of people got ahead of her. Such BS.

the registration renewal usually comes to my house about 2 weeks before the month it is due, my wifes came about July 2 for July....so, it came later...I
went right on line and banged it out, hopefully the
registration comes before the end of the month....it usually only takes about a week when done on line

Just got word from a friend of ours in Somerville. She said it's beyond nuts. The line has now reached her residential neighborhood and is out in front of her house.

Christie’s cure all panacea- outsourcing at its best.

I"m no fan of Christie, but he is not the governor anymore, this is all on Murphy. The DMV was vastly improved the last 5-6 years, i have never waited more than 5 minutes to get plates or do anything else I couldn't do on line. This is just poor planning but not unexpected when you have 4-5 months worth of transactions all wanting to get done on the same day

I normally would get the Registration renewal 1 month in advance, I’m hoping I receive something in the mail soon since July is my month to renew.

As a public service, the agencies have been split into licensing centers and vehicle related centers (registration, titles). You need to check the MVC website to determine where your applicable service is being provided. I think the mayhem today is at the licensing centers.

My month is October and I normally get renewal by mail in mid August.

No way Lakewood, Toms River, Freehold and Eatontown are all licensing centers. All are experiencing the same problem. That would leave Monmouth and Northern Ocean county basically void of all other services.

I go to the one in Newton. Little further of a drive but so worth it. I have never had more than 2 people in front of me. Today there will probably be 6 people in front of you. If it takes you an extra hour to drive it's probably worth it

I always found the Manahawkin DMV to be very quick and not crowded when I lived near the shore. Plus, the people actually knew what they were doing.

And I thought the lines in Bayonne and Jersey City were bad...

I'm not surprised that the NJ government had their thumbs up their arses instead of using the 3 months preparing themselves and improving their service for this day. Shouldve known when it took them 3 months to figure out how to fix the unemployment site
