At the end of the day the Devils have won 3 cups in the last 24 years and the Rags have won 1 cup in the last 79 years (despite thete being significantly less teams in league during much of that period)

About 10 years ago I worked at UBS in Jersey City and one of my co-workers name was Andre Gilbert and I was let on by another co-worker that he was the brother of Ranger great Rod Gilbert but he didn't like talking about it, so I respected his wishes and never asked him about his brother. One night he asks how to get to the Rock for the Rangers-Devils game, Andre lives on the Island and had no clue what trains to take, since I did I told him he could tag along with me on the PATH and once he got to Newark its an easy 10 minute walk. We get to the elevator as we're leaving work and he turns to me and asks "How would you like to meet the Legend?". I guess he figured out I knew who his brother was and also knew how big of a hockey fan I was and I was like hell yeah man. We ended up meeting Rod at Scully's and when Rod found out I didn't have a ticket he insisted I take his since he has a lifetime pass for any NHL game he can go too. We're getting plastered and I'm having the time of my life, we get to the Rock and the tickets turn out to be in one of the Devils owner's suites, so of course that means free beer and we're partying like rock stars. ANYWAY, got to talking to Rod about Brodeur and asked him about his thoughts were on him and he said he was the best of all time and just couldn't stop marveling about him and explaining what made him special, he literally broke down Marty's game and why he stood head and shoulders of all the rest. I just wish I remember what exactly he said but I was pretty drunk.......and happy, outside the Devils three cups and beating the Rangers in 2012 (sorry), that night was the greatest hockey night I ever had. God Bless Rod Gilbert.
What about in 2014 when cam Talbot cane in for the rangers and completely outplayed lundqvist. He has 3 shutouts in first 8 games in the Rags system and went on to save the system.
Guess lundqvist is just a product of the rangers defensive system because talbot was never as good again as he was on the rangers when he was best goalie in league for strectch.

Youre really mad lol. Talbot played great that year. Hes a good goalie. Hank has a year or two left and then it’s igor time for the next 15 years or so. Lifes good being a rangers fan when you have the devils who cant land players, taylor hall about to parisi u, and the flyers signing kevin hayes for $7 mill a year.

Were managing to rebuild right now without being an embarrassment and should be back in cup contention by 2020-2021. Have you seen what the rangers lineup looks like for that season. Sheeeesh

Go ahead and name me 5 franchises run better than the rangers post lockout. The rangers and knicks are apples and oranges regarding how their run from a front office perspective despite having the same owner.
Best run franchises post lockout:
1) Pens: easy when you have malkin and crosby to start.
2) Blackhawks
3) Caps: always at the top consistently
4) Bruins
5) Kings
6) Rangers
I was off by one. I’d say theyre 6th best run franchise post lockout. Also in contention id say canucks since they had a great run with AV just never could get it done in the playoffs. Red wings they havent been their historical greatness but theyve been good.
The rangers are a very well run franchise, thats not me making a ground breaking statement, thats just kind of common knowledge

Anyone want to try to make an argument against this post?
Post lockout the rangers have made the playoffs every single years except 3, 2 of which are the past 2 seasons as we are rebuilding. 1 cup appearence, 3 conference finals appearence and now after what has been a quick rebuild the rangers are geared up to put together another 10 year sustainable run of being legitimate perennial contenders. Have you seen the rangers projected lineup for next year after a quick 2 year rebuild!? Add in panarin and then perry on the cheap to park in front of the net

Nope. Hall wants Hughes so theyre gonna do that to try to appease him. Kakko is better though and im veg happy to have him on the blueshirts

If they pick Hughes it's because they agree with the scouting consensus across the league that Hughes will be the better player long term.
I personally think Kakko will have a more impactful career than Hughes

Yes, by whatever metrics are used. The notion that they were dragged to the ECF by a goalie is not true. They were also favored in the ECF, had home ice advantage, and went 2-4.
Anyway, this thread went way off topic, and the one poster has changed topics alone, mostly responding to himself, about 8 times.
I said it is hard to compare players across eras, but it is worth noting since today is NHL Awards night that Brodeur won 4 Vezinas. That is an award where one is compared to his peers at the time. There are only a few guys that are in that neighborhood (notably, Hasek won 5 Vezinas in a six year period in the 90s). The present active player with the most is Bobrovsky, who has 2. Nobody else has more than 1.

As for the devils, the talk above that they would draft one player over the other based on internal pressure from a player is laughable. This is the biggest pick in franchise history. ( bigger than 2017) and will change the face and direction of franchise for the next decade. They will take best player.
