This is a well-worn topic, and I've searched a lot of previous threads. In a nutshell: staying at the Ritz-Carlton for a CE meeting this weekend. Did this three years ago and with your help ate at GW Fins, Dominica, and Bayona. LOVED them but want to try new ones within walking distance (have the wife). I did my research and need opinions on the following (I will have time to eat at two of them):

Galatoire's
Arnauds
Mr B's
Bourbon House

I'll certainly take other suggestions, but want fancy dining at fancy places really close to the hotel. Not sure anything will top GW Fins.

I have lunch places chosen.

Thanks, gentlemen.

Galatoirs is neat but the food is not that great. More about the experience. Mr. B's is good but I haven't done dinner there. If you want really fancy, August is not far. R'evolution is also nearby. Haven't eaten there but Seafood R'evolution in Ridgeland is good.

Red Fish, 2 blocks over on Bourbon. Fairly casual and you wont' get a better meal for your money. Directly Across the street from Bourbon House just outside the Astor Crowne Hotel. Try the Buffalo Oyster appetizer. Basically fried oysters, tossed in buffalo seasoning and served with blue cheese and ranch dressing. Anything you order after that, will be good.

Hard to beat Antoine's for elegance. Ask for Jimmy.

Or take Uber to Peche on Magazine. Excellent.

Mr. B's is always solid, but I'm not sure it would top GW Fins. Do yourself a favor and take a cab to Peche. I know you want really close to the hotel, but Peche isn't that far and 100% worth it.

Highly recommend the Chophouse New Orleans. Was just there over a month ago. One of the best steaks and other trimmings I have ever had.

Remember, you have to wear a coat at Galatoire's. There are certain items at Galatoire's that are outstanding but generally, it's not the best. If you head there, order the fried eggplant and crab maison. Have a cocktail and leave. Also, the fried chicken at Galatoire's is out of this world. It's not on the menu...you have to ask.

Y'all are great...I really do appreciate the help, and will report back...

So, Uber....how does that work? You use an app? Better than a cab? I'd walk to Metarie if it was just me, but wife...

Of those... Mr B's and Arnauds

Mr B's is a very solid restaurant, and I know you're in New Orleans, but get the pork chop.

Arnaud's is classic New Orleans place. Sort of like Antoine's in that while it may not be the best food in the city, it's still phenomenal, and when you throw in the service and ambiance it just makes for a really unique dinner. And go early and have drinks at French 75 next door. Get a sazerac.

Galatoires is an experience as well, but only if you eat downstairs and you've got to wait in line for that.

Ill recommend Bon Ton Café on Magazine St. Ive eaten at a lot of places mentioned in this thread and its as good or better than most esp if your looking for good creole.

If you hit Galatoires, their turtle soup is the best Ive ever had. Like someone else mentioned, the best time I had at Galatoires was when we had a few drinks and apps, then went to another restaurant for main course.

Just Download Uber app. it is cheaper than a cab in NOLA.

Peche Seafood is my new favorite restaurant.
Le Petite Grocery or Lilette are worth the ride too

Wherever you go, make sure it's not the Rum House on Magazine. It's a hipster paradise with portions that wouldn't fill up a small child, ****** food, and prices that make you blush. Ok, I wouldn't hate on the prices if I got a ton of food, but you don't and the stuff you do get sucks.

I'm from New Orleans and EVERY trip home ends with Sunday brunch at Arnaud's starting with drinks French 75. Bar and restaurant have a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Jacques-Imo’s and Cochon get my vote. For some reason I always like Nola's, Emeril's low end restaurant in the quarter. Oh and Felix's blackened oysters and bloody Mary's!

Riverboat dinner cruise is a nice change.

If you find yourself on bourbon late at night and drunk the give Willie's Chicken Shack a try.

If you're looking for just very good food (not a classic NOLA place), I can vouch for Luke. I was very impressed.

I also really like La Dominica in the Roosevelt Hotel. The Sazerac Bar there is awesome too.

Alright......I'll restate my thanks for all the suggestions; my meetings clearly need to last longer than a few days. I couldn't get Peche to fit the time frame I needed. They is POPULAR. Saturday is the only time I can do a sit-down breakfast, and I chose Ruby Slipper just outside the hotel.

Saturday evening at Red Fish Grill, then a surprise event at 7:30 (this is what cost me Peche)
Sunday night at Arnaud's, sans coat, but after church so I should qualify fashionistically speaking
Monday night at R'Evolution

It is IMPOSSIBLE to choose when you are only there for a few days. Ill just have to make more trips. I know my opinion is of utmost importance, so I'll critique afterwards. Thanks again, and Hail State.

Just download the uber app. It'll prompt you to enter your credit card and set up and account. After that you'll be ready to go. The app is very easy to use.

Uber is typically cheaper than a cab but even if price is even, uber is just easier. You don't gotta worry about paying. The app charges your card. So no need to carry cash or worry about a tip. My experience is uber is usually much cleaner car and much more friendly driver.

Best meal that I've ever eaten was at Adolfo's. But you have to ask for Ocean's sauce. Put on to top of your steak or fish or whatever. Best stuff ever put in my mouth.

These are the prime ones right now! This is the list you should go by. I love the food at Peche. You must get the fried bread! It's not "fancy" as far as white table cloth or expensive.
Doris Metro is very nice and is more "fancy"
i also love the food at Compere Lapin at the Old 77 in Tchopotoulis. The chef Nina won the Top Chef show.

So we just rolled into town after a five hour drive. Traffic around the hotel was terrible because of the STURGILL SIMPSON CONCERT THAT JUST LET OUT.

That would've been nice to have known about.

I'd seriously consider keeping your Redfish reservation as a backup, but trying to get in one of the other 3 I mentioned. Pesche always claims to be full (even 3-4 weeks out), but you can go and have a couple drinks at the bar at 6-6:30 and would probably be seated in 30 mins. max.
